I'm stressing over the revival and the idea of them being 'estranged' from each other so have this lil thing that's basically me trying to come to terms with what might be again LOL. It's a lot like my other story ( bittersweet) tbh.

( sorry it's OOC ( also incredibly short) bc lbr anything where they aren't together is OOC)

Sorry about not posting anything. Ive been going thru a tough time.

I may write some more idk.

Among the rushing crowds of people going from side to side stands Scully, staring into the sea of faces, her mind wandering. Her mind thinking of a certain person.

Mulder.

She doesn't want to see him, Scully tells herself, but she cannot deny the small burst of anxious excitement she felt when skinner had called her.

There are years of bitterness and estrangement between the last time she laid eyes on him. And that last moment had haunted her ever since.

In the end, it was her that left. Too many nights of waiting for him to come to bed and too many days of him wasting his life away in that little office of his, day dreaming of the past he so desperately wanted back. There was no place for her in that dream anymore, she had realized.

So she left.

Scully had left Mulder. She left thier little unremarkable house on an grey November morning in 2010. After weeks of Mulder begging her to stay, begging her not to do this she left. She left Mulder with a quiet goodbye. She couldn't look him in the eyes, Scully could remember. She feared if she did, he would pull her right back into his world as he had so many times before. She also feared that he'd see the uncertainty in her eyes.

That had been five years ago. Five years of Scully trying to convince herself out of love with her former lover.

And now she was going to see him again. Mulder. A person she had shared a life , a bed and had a child with - and that she had abandoned - Scully was once again going to be face to face with.

She wasn't sure what she was feeling. It was a blur of intensity she had no idea how to deal with.

She wants to see him, but also doesn't want to see him. Scully's conflicted. Part of her has repremanded herself over the years to let him go but the other half longs so dearly to have him back.

And this- seeing him again- complicates those feelings all over again.

She's been standing there for a good twenty minutes, tapping her foot anxiously, waiting for him to arrive. Scully folds her arms and sighs impatiently. It's 3 PM. They were to meet at 2:30 PM. She looks behind her briefly to search the crowds once again for his face

" Hey doc." Scully jumps, turning back around , hearing the all too familiar voice.

And there he is. Dressed in messy causality is Mulder. He looks older now. But it's still him. Her partner. Former partner that is, she reminds herself.

She doesn't know what to say at first. When she finally finds her voice all that comes out is his name.

" Mulder." Her tone was nothing near flat; it betray herself- all of the longing over the past five years flowing out of her mouth. She has to hold herself from running to him.

He stared at her and cracked a small grin that she remembered clearly and held dear to her heart.

" Scully."
