A Taste of Her Own Medicine
Jo Wilson turned the hot water on in the shower and started to undress. It had been a long hard day and all she wanted to do was wash her cares away in the steamy water. She stepped in and let the water run down over her body releasing the tension of the day. She had barely been in the blissful steam for a minute when the bathroom door banged open. She jumped, startled, and then cringed at the voice that invaded her escape.
"Alex, you will not believe what just happened…" Meredith Grey started.
"Alex isn't here," Jo replied somewhat harshly.
"Wilson is that you? Is Alex in there with you?" Meredith squinted trying to see through the steam and the opaque shower curtains.
"Uh… No," the younger woman answered annoyed.
"Well, where is he?"
Jo huffed out a sigh realizing her boss was not going to leave her alone, "I don't know where he is. He said he had to run some errands. I just figured he was rushing over to your house."
"Why would he be going to my house?" the other doctor asked, narrowing her eyes confused.
"I don't know. He is always with you these days…"
"Well, he is obviously not with me now, and I need him," Meredith whined interrupting. Before Jo could say anything else, the other woman stalked out of the bathroom to call Alex.
Jo sighed and shook her head grabbing the shampoo to lather up her hair. She had just put her head under the hot spray of water when the door once again banged open and Grey's voice bellowed out, "He's not answering his phone."
Rolling her eyes Jo offered a meek, "Sorry." She didn't know where the hell her boyfriend was or why he wasn't answering his phone or more importantly how to get her boss out of her bathroom.
"You will have to do," the superior stated sitting down on the closed toilet lid.
"What? Me?" the younger doctor squeaked, "isn't Arizona here or…"
"Shut up and listen to me, Wilson," Meredith commanded.
"Fine, I'm listening."
"No, you are still talking," Grey shook her head as Wilson rolled her eyes and sighed once again. "So, I just called Derek… er, Dr. Shepherd, and some woman answered his phone. And then instead of telling me who she was she just hung up. She hung up on me! Can you believe that?!" Meredith's voice rose with anger and incredulity.
Jo smirked to herself as she finished rinsing the soap and shampoo from her body and then answered in the sweetest voice she could muster, "Well, maybe he found a friend in DC… Someone he can tell all his problems to, who listens to him, who drops everything for him." She reached out of the shower and grabbed her towel wrapping it around herself and continued, "A person… if you will."
"Wilson?!" Dr. Grey exclaimed shocked at the resident's retort.
"What? I have no doubt that you would answer Alex's phone, and probably hang up, if someone called him while you were in the middle of a rant." She brushed past Meredith and out of the bathroom leaving her boss staring after her with mouth gaping.
