Breathing heavily, I faced his front door. I opened it gingerly, and onyx met azure.
"Naruto."
He didn't answer. Keeping his eyes towards the floor, Naruto pushed me aside and walking into my living room. I could almost smile; it was like the old days. Naruto would come over every day, grinning like an idiot, but there was no smile anymore.
It left years ago.
I gulped and walked over to the couch Naruto was sitting on. Then I spoke the one thing tugging at my mind at the moment.
"Why are you here?"
Naruto still didn't look up at me; he refused too. When he finally said something, he spoke in a quiet tortured voice. The feeling in the pit of my stomach coiled, I wasn't supposed to be like this.
Naruto was supposed to be happy. He was supposed to grin endlessly; he wasn't supposed to give up. His blonde hair had lost its shine, those eyes didn't sparkle anymore. Always talking quietly, he lost the big bright voice that I was so used to hearing. I came back, just to hear it. It was gone.
"We have a mission tomorrow."
Of course. A mission. I inwardly laughed, bitterly.
"Is that all?"
"Yeah."
My heart sank as Naruto got up from my couch. Brushing past me, his footsteps echoed through my house…he had gotten taller. He was almost as tall me, now. If he just smiled, at least just once, I could see that beautiful Naruto I had once saw. He was beautiful.
So beautiful.
He stopped at my door, mimicking what I had done just minutes ago. In seconds, I was behind him, my chest against his back, my breath ghosting over his ear.
I said the words I had always said. Didn't know why, he didn't believe me.
"Don't leave." Naruto tensed.
"I have to. There's a mission tomorrow."
"You know that not what I meant."
No response. No movement. I wasn't sure if he was even breathing anymore.
I sure wasn't. When Naruto was so close to me, enough to feel every single crease and bump, curve of his body…nothing mattered anymore. The world around me shattered like glass, and I wasn't alive to hear it. I breathed in an essence of pure Naruto. It smelled like the ocean…and apples. And lavender.
I grabbed his wrist when he tried to move away. I leaned down and whispered in his ear:
"I love you, Naruto."
Tears dropped onto my floor.
He yanked his arm away, and turned around to face me.
"No you don't, Sasuke."
The door slammed.
I cried.
/. /owari.
I don't exactly know where I got this idea, but I felt like writing it.
I'm aware, Sasuke is totally OOC.
Like major.
If you would like to, please check out my other SasuNaru story; Iridescent. I would highly appreciate it.
Disclaimer; I don't fucking own Naruto. If I did, Sasuke would have married him by now and they would have had millions of sharingan fox babies okay?
Reviews are delicious.
