Ok everyone; this is a one-shot Naruto story that has been going around my head for a while now. I will be the first to admit that it is not the best story in any of the "best story categories," but I wanted to get it down anyways. This story is a spin-off of a mistake I actually made when I first started watching the Naruto anime.

It was early morning and Team 7 minus Kakashi was assembled at their usual training ground (1). Sasuke was leaning against a tree, looking like he would rather be anywhere else. Sakura was leaning against the bridge, glancing back and forth between the end of the bridge and Sasuke. And finally, Naruto was sitting on the bridge, just staring off into space.
Kakashi chose that moment to arrive.
"YOU'RE LATE!" screamed the two resident loud mouths.
Kakashi eye-smiled. "Calm down you two, I have decided to add a new element to Team 7's training." (2) Glancing over to Sasuke, he said "Sasuke, come join us."
As Sasuke made his way over to the rest of the team, Kakashi pulled out three slips of paper.
Noticing this, Sakura asked. "What are those Kakashi-sensei?"
"These are called Chakra Paper," Kakashi explained. "By channeling chakra into the paper, you can determine your elemental affinities based on the reaction. If the paper splits in half, you have an affinity for wind. If the paper burns, then it is fire. If the paper gets wet, then you have a water affinity. If it turns to dust, then you have an earth affinity. And finally, if the paper crumples in on itself, you have a lightning affinity."
Giving each of his students a paper, Kakashi told them to channel some of their chakra into the paper.
Sakura's turned to dust, signifying an earth affinity.
Naruto's split in half, signifying a wind affinity.
Sasuke's crumpled, signifying a lighting affinity.
Noticing that Sasuke's affinity was lightning, Kakashi commented, "Hmm, now that's interesting."
"Why is it interesting Kakashi-sensei?" Naruto asked.
"Well Naruto," Kakashi responded, "most of the Uchiha have a fire affinity, which is why they have the fan crest on their back. The fan represents the ability to 'fan the flames,' which will make the flames bigger, hotter, and stronger. I had believed that he would have had a fire affinity, not a lightning one."
"But Kakashi-sensei," Naruto began, "I thought Sasuke would have had a water affinity. I mean, weren't the Uchiha a fisherman clan? All I remember about them was that they would walk around with a picture of a fishing bobber sewn onto their backs."
A/N: Well that is about it. I might add more later if something catches my interest, but the main point is that for the longest time until I read the Wikipedia article, I thought that the Uchiha fan crest was, in fact a fishing bobber. (1) If someone remembers/knows which training ground they use, let me know and I will put it in. My memory says training ground 7, but I could not find another source to back it up. (2) If someone wants to write a Kakashi worthy excuse, pm it to me and if I like it I will add it in.
