Title: The Curves Of Life
Pairings: Lucky and Courtney. Maxie and Jesse.
Chapter One:
Courtney hitched her duffle bag over her shoulder and with on last look around the room, she left the apartment her and her soon-to-be-ex husband shared and never intended to look back.
She never thought that Jax would do this. Never thought her value as a woman would depend on her ability to conceive a child. It was to Jax, though, she thought as she pushed the down button on the elevator. After two months of marriage, one bad fertility test and it's out the door for her.
She sighed and stepped off the elevator. Heading for the door, she thought to herself: At least he's out of her life for good.
ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Jesse sat at a table at Kelley's and ordered a coffee. The waitress set it in front of him, he lifted it to sip and almost spilt it all over himself when delicate hands covered his eyes.
"O-kay," he lifted his hands to the ones covering his eyes and heard Maxie's distinctive giggle.
"Guess who!" she tried to lower her voice but her laughter flowed out.
"Umm…Lucky?"
"No!"
"Hmmm…Mac! I told you we can't be seen in public."
"Yuck!" Maxie moved her hands and slapped him playfully on the shoulder.
Jesse tilted his head back and feigned a disgusted face. "Oh, it's you."
"Yeah, it's me."
Maxie kissed his lips upside down and they both laughed.
Maxie slid into the chair across from him. "So, how was your day?" she asked.
"Good. Pretty slow, which is a good thing because it means the bad guys aren't up to bad things."
"Or it could mean they're being really, really sneaky about it."
"Ha-ha," Jesse gave her a look.
Maxie laughed. "When does your shift end?"
"6:00. Why?"
"I was thinking…"
"Ute-oh. That's never good."
"Shut up! You've been such a smart ass lately!" she said back but couldn't help but laugh.
"Sorry. I'm in a mood."
"I can tell. Anyway. What I was saying is I was thinking maybe we could have dinner tonight. I don't have class and you're off so…what do you think?"
"I think…I'll pick you up at seven."
Jesse tilted her chin up for another kiss.
