Brighter than the Stars
A/N: Alex Rider fic. No Romance between Alex and Jack because I will always think them as brother/sister or on rare occasions, mother/son. It's like incest to me, if they someone ever writes romance between them. Eww. Alex and Sabina is sweet though. It's reeeeeally short, sorry for that.
Jack Starbright was dead. Alex Rider was living with Sabina Pleasure and her family. No one took care of him. Not the way Jack did.
Jack Starbright. Just who was she to him? That was easy; she was his companion, his friend, his confidante, the sibling he never had. And now she was gone. In his eyes, no one was there by his side anymore. Sure, Sabina was a good girlfriend who supported him when he was down or depressed, like now for instance. But she could never be the sister Jack was to him.
He was alone.
Razim, that mad man, had taken her away from him right in front of his eyes. The grief he had felt was unbearable. After all, Jack had cared for him since he was seven.
That day, when she died, the stars were hidden by the clouds. It was as if the skies were grieving over her loss.
No more waking up to her smiling face, no more glimpses of her short, fiery red hair, no more hearing of her cheery voice.
Thinking back to the times when he was about to go on a mission for MI6, about how Jack worried for him. About the times when she made breakfast. About how she dealt with his teenage mood swings.
Coming back from his reverie, he looked up at the sky. Just like the day she died, it was overcast. He was at the balcony, staring at nothing in particular. Thinking about the good times with Jack Starbright.
Just then, the dark, night sky cleared up and the first of the stars began to show. Soon, the sky twinkled with stars.
However, it was the moon that shown the brightest.
That was what Jack Starbright was to him, he decided. The moon. The celestial body that shed the light to those lost in the dark. The brilliance in his life, ever since his parents died. She was the one who guided him out through the gloom. She would and she did sacrifice herself for him.
And she was the epitome of the moon. Now she had a place in the Heavens. Where she deserved to be, for her the goodness she shared with Alex. She taught him the best of life.
She was brighter than the stars.
