Just Now
She wouldn't have envied her friend. She wouldn't have cared that she was always a step behind in every aspect; in fact, she would have been delighted and ecstatically congratulate said person. For the truth is, she really didn't care about all those things. As long as she knows that there's someone who cares and her conscience is clear - that had been enough. But, no longer did it last.
For not long after, her friend got it all. Li Syaoran fell head over heels for Daidouji Tomoyo.
And then, dominoes began its chain reaction. It all started with the thought that love doesn't choose anyone in specific - when Cupid shoots his arrow, he just shoots it whenever, wherever - then, she thought it was because Daidouji was just perfect. And it all ended with thinking that she was just nothing; therefore, would not even match to Daidouji in whatever it may be.
Now, she looked forlornly at the picture given by her friend, jealousy and "what if"s echoing in her mind. She stared at it, etching every detail of Li Syaoran's blissful expression with another woman, torturing and wrenching her heart.
Drip. Drip.
Maroon liquid dropped on the picture, mixing with salty transparent water. It was only a couple of minutes later when her body fell.
Syaoran came rushing in his roommate's room, feeling scared as hell. He saw the reddish substance and immediately paled.
He saw the picture in her hand, noticing his happy expression. He was staring at her that time, glad that she was beside him, not caring about anything or anyone. The guilt of using Daidouji temporarily subsided that time. All because of Sakura, his worries went out of the window.
But now… now, she's gone. She stopped breathing. Her heart stopped functioning.
He never felt so empty. What happened now is worse than witnessing the massacre of his clan. He didn't feel so numb.
It was only now that his present and future disappeared; only now that his past took a leave.
Just now.
