Sam was unloading her books into her locker. That is what she was doing until the air got colder and her books began putting themselves into the locker. She glanced around, seeing no one, before hissing, "Danny!" The air chuckled but her books continued to remove themselves from her bag.

"Damn it Danny! Knock it off!"

"Awww Sam," he whined as he slowly became visible, "I was just trying ta help."

She zipped her bag up, slammed the locker shut, exited the school compound, and began walking down the sidewalk, leaving Tucker behind because he had detention.

Their silence was amicable. They soon bumped shoulders.

"Hey Sam," he said secretively, "I got a secret…"

She arched a brow, "Why are you telling me?"

"You're my best friend!" he laughed.

"Okay, what's up?"

"I like you."

She smiled, laughing, "That's good to know."

"I've another secret then." he was becoming serious now.

She stopped and looked to him, "Danny, you're starting to worry me…"

"Sorry Sam, but I can't keep lying to you," he licked his lips and gulped down his heart which had logged itself into his windpipe.

"I—I—"

"Danny!"

"Please don't stop me Sam—"

"You're sinking!"

He looked down at himself to find his body halfway into the cement. She grabbed his arm and tugged him up, her touch solidifying his lower half as she freed it. She did not release her hold on him.

"Thanks…"

"What's got you so worked up?"

"Sam, I like you…more than a best friend should. Tucker's been right, I hated seeing you with Gregory, hell any guy, all the ghosts know to use you against me; I know it isn't right…Sam?"

The goth had become silent, looking at his feet. Her grip became loose. He hung his head, he'd just ruined their friendship, he really was—

"You moron," she spoke looking at him, "you finally admitted it! I really thought I'd have to ask you!" She laughed happily and leaned forward to press a kiss to his lips.

He smiled when they broke apart; he grasped her hand and they continued on home.

They were in like. And for right now that was all they needed.
