Steven closed his eyes, breathing deeply.

If only life could be simpler. Then he would have nothing to worry about, right?

Steven never thought that falling in love would come with such scrutiny. You couldn't choose who you fell in love with, right?

He couldn't help that he fell in love with someone much younger than himself.

He still remembers the day he told the people closest to him about his lover.

The way Wallace's eyes opened wide and he gasped when Steven told him, the way his father frowned, knowing that there was now a limited chance of an heir for Devon Corporation, knowing that people would look at Steven differently for taking on a younger same sex lover.

The way Brendan looked at him with a shy smile and a light blush on his cheeks when he told him he was the person he was so taken with.

The way Norman groaned when Brendan told him, before looking at Steven like he was perverted trash.

May had chuckled nervously as Brendan enthusiastically told her that they were now an item, holding tightly to Steven's hand.

Steven's former co-workers at the Elite Four seemed to be the only ones who didn't even care about his love life. Then again they had a lot more pressing matters than Steven's love life.

But how time flies peoples opinions change and the world keeps moving regardless.

Steven opened his eyes, letting them adjust to the dark. He looked next to him at the sleeping figure, wrapped in all the blankets. He smiled. Brendan was so beautiful, his face illuminated by the light of the moon. Steven rolled over and hugged Brendan, curling up behind him. He breathed in the smell of Brendan's freshly washed hair.

No matter what people had thought when they both started dating he had no regrets. He wouldn't change the years they had shared.
