Erza slowly cracked open her eyes, awakened from a horrid sound. She wiped the sleep out of her eyes, sitting up. She glanced to the clock. 5:00 A.M. Looking to her other side, she saw her blue-haired boyfriend was missing. She got up and slipped on her bunny slippers as the bed creaked beneath her. She gently opened the door, not wanting to make any noise. Almost everything in their apartment made noise, from the bed springs to the door hinges. She saw a faint light coming from a closed door at the end of the hall.
She crept to the end of the hall, to the closed door. The noises were louder. Violent retching noises and dry heaves could be heard. She knocked on the door. "Jellal?" She asked.
"Ye-" He couldn't finish the word before heaving again. "Can I come in?" She asked. He gave a quiet "Mmhmm." Before she entered. What she saw frightened her. It was definetely her boyfriend, not the Grim reaper. But, he was deathly pale, practically white. His cheeks were flushed with fever. The toilet was filled with the contents of Jellal's stomach, it stained the edges a bit. He was covered in a thick sheet of sweat. His hair was damp, also with sweat and he looked like he had just taken a shower. She would know if he did. The water would be heard running. Erza went over to feel her sick boyfriends forehead.
"Jellal, honey your burning up." She said, her voice tinted with concern.
"Am I?" He asked, before dry heaving again. She rubbed small circles on his back. She said soothing things to him, and soon it appeared all of his stomach contents had been emptied. She flushed for him and helped the weak Jellal back to bed. Erza layed a damp cloth on Jellal's head. "Ugh..I'm so embarrassed." He muttered to himself. Erza heard him and said,"Don't be. It's not your fault if your sick, it's the fault of germs."
"I know." He said. "I didn't mean to wake you, I'm sorry." He continued.
"Sweetie, it's okay. I'm kind of glad you did, you wouldn't have help otherwise." She smiled. Jellal gave a weak smile in reply. Erza handed him a glass of ginger-ale (They had no cooled water) and placed an old bucket next to him just in case. Jellal took a small sip and placed it on the table next to their bed. He let out a small belch and covered his mouth afterwards. "Excuse me.." He said. Erza chuckled. "That happens to me too." He smiled again, that smile Erza loved.
"Well it's kind of obvious I won't get much more sleep tonight, I have a mission early in the morning.
"Sorry, again.." He said. "It's fine, I really didn't feel like going out anyways. It's supposed to rain, and I personally don't like being out in the rain. You saved me, thank you!" They both started laughing.
Erza traged the mark over Jellal's eye with her finger.
"You know, I feel better already!" Jellal exclaimed. Erza layed back down next to him. Jellal began to feel tired. He said a quiet "Thank You" before falling asleep.
"It's no problem," Erza said. "I'm Always here when you need me."
