Why do you see right through me?

AN: This is based on 'Not Pretty Enough' by Kasey Chambers.

Also, I am now taking requests (Short Stories Only, and Pearlshipping only).

Everything I do to impress him, he never seems to notice. Haven't I dropped enough hints? He so, so, so… dense! Or maybe he's just… not interested. I keep trying to get him out of my mind, out of my heart, but he's just so… incredible. The way he puts his life on the line for his friends, his humour, his hair, eyes, smile; everything about him drives me insane. I shouldn't even be thinking like this. I know he doesn't like me, so why bother. The more hints I drop, the more he seems to runaway. Nobody on this planet could be that dense! Kenny's a complete idiot, but even he could understand what I'm trying to get across. What wrong with me…

She looked out at the moon reflected lake in front of her; seeing a tinge of flickering orange in the corner of her eye to where camp was. She bent her knees to her cheats and sank her head on them in depression, and sang…

"Am I not pretty enough
Is my heart too broken
Do I cry too much
Am I too outspoken
Don't I make you laugh
Should I try it harder
Why do you see right through me

Why do you see, right through-"

"Dawn?" she gasped at the familiar voice as it words echoed through her mind.

"Ash!" He stood there staring at her for a while before moving over to the tree by the lake; of which she was leaning on.

"What's wrong? You look upset," he looked at her with concern-flooded eyes. Sure he cared about her, but who's to say more than a friend.

"I… n-nothing. I was just… nothing." She stammered still deciding weather or not to tell him. She'd never been in love before, so of corse she didn't know what to do. She dropped hints, but telling him straight out wasn't exactly on her to-do list. How do you tell somebody you love them?

"Dawn," he pressed on. He wasn't buying it, even somebody as dense as him knew something was wrong, and that's saying something.

"I told you. Nothing." She tore her gaze away from his brown eyes. She had never expected this.

"Then what was your song about?" He shoulders rose with tension. What could she say now? She heart raced in panic as her mind shot out decisions. Ash looked at her and placed a hand on her shoulder. "You can tell me."

Feeling his skin touch hers sent shivers down her back as she turned to his trusting smile. Without thinking, her mussels let lose and all the tension vanished. Somehow, he always knew how to calm her.

"Yo… you," she whispered hastily.

Ash was slightly taken aback by her reply, but he kinda knew the answer. All the hints she had dropped gave her away. Although, he never replied to her obvious tries. He couldn't; he never had the courage for love. He could save the world, risk his life, purposely put himself in danger, but he couldn't say the three words that kept his heart pumping and keep the smile on his face. I love you.

She looked back at him hesitantly; wanting, but not wanting to see his expression. He was wide-eyes for what seemed like forever, but then his mouth uncontrollably curved into a smile.

"I've sent so many hints, but you never notice. Now I think that there's something wrong with me, and-" she was cut off when she felt something warm and passionate on her lips. She stared wide-eyed but soon melted into the arms that snaked around her waist. He was… kissing her! She wrapped her arms around his neck as then parted and rejoined for air.

He pulled away gently and spoke. "There's nothing wrong with you. You're perfect."

Dawn's heart fluttered at his comment. Never in a million years you she ever imagine a scene like this, with him.

Right through me… '_~
