Drifts
Looking into the swirling mists
Of a storm that blew in from the hills
I lean my cheek against the glass
Sending chills up and down my spine
The white on white of the terrible storm
Blew my mind away
As I thought so reverently of our last day
From what twisted fate do we come
And how can we rectify the errors of our hearts
Though I meant to do what I could
Nothing ever seemed to be just enough
To keep you alive
Now my spirit has taken a terrible dive
Death has come in various forms
Yet none as vicious as before
Subtly has taken its toll
As in the days of yore
Dead, now, I see your form in the white
Memories of times we had
Just trying to fight the fight
I raise one hand to the glass
And smile as I do
My only thoughts that night were the pleasant thought of you
Looking into the swirling mists
Of a storm that blew in from the hills
I lean my cheek against the glass
Sending chills up and down my spine
The white on white of the terrible storm
Blew my mind away
As I thought so reverently of our last day
From what twisted fate do we come
And how can we rectify the errors of our hearts
Though I meant to do what I could
Nothing ever seemed to be just enough
To keep you alive
Now my spirit has taken a terrible dive
Death has come in various forms
Yet none as vicious as before
Subtly has taken its toll
As in the days of yore
Dead, now, I see your form in the white
Memories of times we had
Just trying to fight the fight

And smile as I do
