Okay, so this is after the rebellion, the districts have lost, and the Capitol has made each district put in three boys and girls between the ages of twelve and eighteen. This is the first year after the rebellion. The rules have been changed, but no one knows how yet. With a total of 72 tributes who will survive? This story follows one of the male tributes of district seven.

It was the reaping day. Normally I wouldn't be that nervous. Today though, I was as nervous as could be. With the number of tributes chosen being tripled, there is no telling what will happen. I'm also terrified of what will happen if any of my friends are chosen.

The reaping starts in an hour. I have to start getting ready. I quickly wash up, and throw on some nice clothes. I walk over to the seventeen year old section and stand with some of my friends. My best friend Toke soon arrives, "Hey Ryo, not a great day huh?"

I laugh, "That has to be the understatement of the year."

He frowns, "Yeah, this year is going to be especially bad, have you heard about the rule changes?"

It's my turn to frown, "No, what are they?"

"No one knows for sure, but the rumors are that there will be two rounds of killing tributes before getting to the Hunger Games."

I'm shocked, this is worse than I could have imagined. I stand in stunned silence with Toke just standing there next to me. Soon our reaping announcer, Kaitlin goes up to the stage.

"Welcome to the 75th annual Hunger Games! I know we had a break for a few years, but this year there will be three times the fun. And three times the tributes!" She pauses for applause, but after there is none she continues "Let's mix things up this time, the males will go first."

Not Ryo, not Toke, not Ryo, not Toke I plead.

"And the first male tribute is… Forer Gue!" A small boy steps up, probably about fourteen years old. He is scared, and it shows. "Next up… Ryo Teaves!"

I walk up; stunned my worst fears have been realized. There is only thing that can make this day worse. "And the final male tribute is… Toke Evans!"

And that was it. Kaitlin calls out three girl names, not of them at all familiar to me. Then she tells us that in a twist, the first round of the Hunger Games would be a round of luck.

"Okay people, you will pick a number, 1 through six. Two of these numbers are the unlucky numbers. Happy Hunger Games and let's begin with the girls."

The first girl picked four, nothing happened; apparently that was not a lucky number. The second girl picked six, again nothing happened. The third girl went up to the microphone, "Um, I'm going to have to with one." There was a whistling through the air, and then the girl fell to the ground, dead, with a knife in the center of her forehead. I stumbled back, and Toke gasped in horror. Kaitlin speaks again, not even shaken, "Let's start with you Toke!"

"I'm going with my lucky number, five." Nothing happens. I breathe a sigh of relief, only to realize that now there is a 50 percent chance that I will die. The only numbers left are two and three.

I take a deep breath and shakily speak, "Two." I hear a whistle through the air and Forer smiles, happy it's not him that will die. I have a last though to try and move out of the way, and then I hear the thump.

Please review! Reviews make my day. Also, the first chapter was really short, I know, the others will be longer I promise. Let me know what you think, any suggestions would be helpful. Should I continue or is it a lost cause?
