Have you ever seen a cat jump on to a fridge? That is what I thought when I met Laney Calig. She was a lynx, a cheetah, a tiger, a lioness, but also a panther. Her hair was as black as my cello's ebony fingerboard. Her skin was ivory and I lost himself just looking at it let alone touching it. But to me her eyes were the best part of her perfect body. Her round eyes and those vibrant green orbs inside of them. She was beautiful and I am in love with her. The only problem was she was my sister's best mate and currently dating to the Admiral's son.
The Admiral was a stern man who was known for his impressive military career and his two sons and three daughters who were all in some way successful. Zak was a pilot-to-be, though he was constantly over shadowed by his older brother. Zak was also my sister's fiancé and a great guy. Athena was a model for a successful company and was preparing to break the news to her parents that she was pregnant. Her baby's father was her secret lover, the son of my father, me. It had been a drunken mistake and the boyfriend thing only lasted that night the first Adama grandchild was conceived.
Moira was less successful but secure and had a steady boyfriend who was very much in love with her and her him. Where they were was a goal for him and, he hoped, Laney.
Jane Adama was the oldest girl but the youngest at heart. She had moved to Egypt to study their ways and was now unrecognizable. She had dyed her golden hair black to fit in easier and had mastered Arabic after three years of intensive study (though at parties she still often spoke French and Italian).
However the oldest Adama was the most interesting by far. He was my greatest obstacle to my desired future but also part of my sister and mines plan.
Kara was the coolest little sister anyone could ask for. She was only ten months younger and we were in the same grade. She had met her best mate in the first grade when Laney had moved here from California with her dad. They had been inseparable since and because Kara and he hardly parted he knew her quite well.
I don't know exactly when I first realized that I was in love with Laney but it was safe to say around junior year I really began to take an interest in her. At the time she was staying at our house for a month because her father had to return to Israel to help his family arrange their affairs after his mother had passed away. It worked out great that summer because I had gotten a job and Kara had messed up her leg real bad in a car accident the week after school was over. She had needed help doing amost everthing and neither my me or my dad was going to be around. Laney ended up staying two months and Kara managed not to go insane by the end of that summer being cooped up inside thanks to Laney's company. I loved my sister but after that summer I couldn't understand how Laney hadn't left but then again I don't pretend to understand women.
