Madge
I smiled to myself as I brushed my long, blonde hair. Today is the day, the day I'm finally getting married. Gale and I had to wait a bit longer than we had wanted, because he wanted to put some money aside for our future. A knock at my bedroom door interrupted my thoughts. It was my best friend, Katniss Everdeen. Katniss walked in with a pained smile on her face.
"what? What's wrong?" I asked frantically. I was nervous enough, It was my wedding day for crying out loud! Katniss looked at me with a sad look on her face and asked me "Do you know? How hard your life is going to be now?". I was shocked to say the least. My best friend is asking me this, on my wedding day. She took my silence as a no.
"Madge, you're one of my best friends, so I want you be happy, but life in the Seam isn't exactly, well, desirable." Katniss said slowly, as if I was an ignorant child. Of course I knew the hardship we'd face, but I didn't care. Not in the slightest. I love Gale and he loves me, that's all I've ever wanted. Someone to love me unconditionally and make me happy. So I looked Katniss straight in the eye and said"Katniss, I know you're just trying to protect me, but I really don't care. I love him, and he loves me. I don't need a fancy house or unlimited wealth, I just need him." I finished, waiting for her reaction.
Katniss broke into a smile and pulled me into a hug. "Oh Madge, I'm sorry. I just had to know that you were prepared. I didn't want you to regret your life with Gale."
I looked at her knowingly, "Gale set you up to this, didn't he?".
Katniss looked at the carpet sheepishly, "Was it that obvious?".
"Katniss, you should not be an actress. That's my thoughts on the matter." I responded, barely containing my laughter. Her signature scowl appeared on her face, as I had expected.
"This is great and all, Katniss, but do you think that you could help me get ready? After all, we have a wedding to attend."
A grin slowly formed on her face. "Sure, Madge, what are friends for?".
A/N: This is my very first fic and I'm a total Gadge supporter! Criticism is always welcome, and I know the dialog might not be in the proper format, so help with that would be greatly appreciated! Should I continue this into a story about their life in the Seam?
