Title: 12 days of Christmas
author: Cindy Ryan

Jemma Simmons awoke on Christmas morning and saw it was still dark out. She was about to roll over and go back to sleep when she heard a noise. Jemma also noticed that Fitz's side of the bed was empty. Cracking one eye open Jemma saw the hallway light was on and Fitz was standing in the doorway to their bedroom. Hovering around him at head level were the drones. Each drone was holding at least two small Christmas gift bags. The drones lights had been changed to green and red. Jemma sat up in bed and smiled.

"Merry Christmas, Leo."Jemma said as one of the drones flew closer.

"Merry Christmas, Jemma."Fitz replied with a smile.

Jemma took the two gift bags from the drone and it flew back to Fitz. The next drone delivered it's packages and Jemma placed them on the bed in front of her. With how busy things had been Jemma had been afraid they wouldn't be spending the holiday together. So that in itself was the best present Jemma could receive. Once the drones delivered the last of the gift bags Jemma took off the covers and began to get out of bed but Fitz stopped her.

"Where are you going?"Fitz asked with a smile as he joined her.

"Going to get your gifts of course."Jemma replied with a grin. "They're in the living room under the tree."

"We can do that later."Fitz said as he kissed Jemma and then sat down next to her. "Open yours."

"Which one first?"Jemma asked looking down at six total small gift bags of various colors.

Fitz glanced down and plucked out a solid green color and handed it to Jemma. She reached inside and pulled out a small item wrapped in clear plastic. It was a miniature pear tree in white chocolate with a green partridge bird on top. It truly was a work of art.

"Oh Fitz; it's lovely."Jemma commented with a smile.

"Glad you like it; open the red one next."Fitz stated as he leaned back resting his hands on the bed.

Jemma opened the bag and pulled out two tiny turtle doves in milk chocolate. Also in the bag was Three larger birds which Jemma guessed were the three French hens. They were in white chocolate with gold feathers.

"Sensing a theme?"Fitz inquired with a grin.

"Yes, where did you get these?"Jemma asked as she opened the next bag. "They're so delicate and amazing."

"Little shop in London."Fitz replied. "Saw an ad for it online and thought you'd enjoy it with your love of chocolate and Christmas."

Jemma leaned forward and kissed Fitz quickly before looking down at the next 12 days of Christmas items included were four calling birds and five golden rings. As Jemma opened the remaining bags the rest of the days were revealed each in intricate candy and beautiful detail. She placed them in order on the nightstand and smiled.

"I don't think I can eat them, Fitz."Jemma commented. "They're too pretty."

"You can do whatever you like."Leo replied as he wrapped his arms around Jemma in an embrace. "Though I think the chocolatier might be crushed if you don't have at least one."

Jemma picked up the two turtle doves and opened the plastic package. She gently split the chocolate birds apart and handed one to Fitz and placed the other in her mouth.

"Oh that's so good."Jemma stated

"Yes it is."Fitz agreed as he finished his.

"Thank you, Leo, it was a lovely wonderful gift."Jemma said as she nestled back in his embrace.

"Glad you liked it, Jemma."Fitz stated softly. "I love you."

"I love you too."Jemma replied.
