Disclaimer: I don't own Ned's, but if I did, I would bring it back!
Kiss It and Make It Better!
In gym class, I always get intoxicated with the game we're playing. The whole period becomes a blur. As I catch the ball in my hands, I can feel adrenalin pumping through me. I throw the ball with great force across the gym and it hit's someone straight in the face. That was definitely not what I was intending. When I take a look at the victim, my hands fly up to cover my mouth. Oh. My. God. I hit Ned!
If ever there was a time to feel like a complete and total nut job, it was now. What kind of moron knocks their best friend in the face with a dodge ball? Apparently me, that's who.
I run over to him, a look of panic on my face. I hope he's okay! My luck they'll have to rush him out of here on a stretcher or something. Alright, so I know that's probably not going to happen, but I'm not going to lie and say it didn't cross my mind.
"Are you alright?" I ask him, once I reach him.
He looks at my kinda funny and nods his head.
"I'll live to see another day." He say's blandly.
I just shake my head at him.
"Is there anything I can do? Do you need me to go get the nurse or something?" Like I said before, I feel like a complete nut job.
"Well, there is one thing…" He says his voice trailing off.
"Of course. Just tell me what it is and I'll make it happen." I say.
Well, I hurt my finger before…" He says his voice trailing off.
"Okay, what do you need me to do?" I ask immediately.
At this point mostly everyone is sitting down on the bleachers, glad that they have an excuse not to play anymore. Unlike me, there are a lot of people who don't get as into these silly P.E. games as I do.
The teacher seems to M.I.A. most likely she ran to go get the nurse.
"Kiss it and make it better." He say's teasingly, holding up his finger.
I give him a weird look, but I'm so filled with guilt that I bend down and give it a quick peck. A weird feelings tremors through my body.
"And… I skinned my knee," He says, pulling his knee up. I hesitate and slowly bend down to kiss it. I think I know where this is going.
I pull up slowly and we look into each others eyes for a moment. He finally points at his lips and gives a little half smile.
"Kiss it and make it better," He says quietly. I find myself smiling and leaning into him over the dodge ball resting between our knees.
Mind you, I've known Ned for as long as I can remember and he's always been quite a tease, but this was a little much.
I give him a puzzled look, and he just smiles at me. That smile always seemed to make me a bit weak in the knees.
I bend down onto the ground so that I'm eye level with him. Without giving it a second thought I lean in and plant a small kiss right on his lips. It feels magical as he responds and kisses me back. If anyone would have told me about an hour ago that I'd be kissing my best friend in the middle of gym class after knocking him in the face with a dodge ball, I would have laughed in their face.
We pull apart and he grins at me.
"That feels much better."
