Summary: The conversation evil Willow and good Willow might have had at the end of Doppelgangland. Oneshot.
The Realisation
"You're just like me, you know."
The vampire spoke softly, stroking Willow's hair. Willow shifted uncomfortably and frowned.
The two red heads sat side by side on the pool table in the Bronze. Willow had asked Buffy to leave for a few minutes while she sorted out her feelings.
"I'm nothing like you! You're a vampire…and skanky….and evil….and I'm…well…not!"
Her evil self smiled.
"Not like that…" she brought her hand down to glide along Willow's shoulder, "On the outside you're fuzzy and pink, but on the inside…"she moved her hand so it hovered over Willow's heart, "you're made of darker stuff. Stuff like me."
Willow jumped off the pool table and stepped anxiously away from the demon that wore her face.
"I'm not evil." Her voice filled with horror she pulled a cross out of her pocket. But the vampire kept talking, saying things Willow never wanted to hear aloud.
"You've known it for years-hidden it, under polka dots and excessive homework. I guess it's the demon in me that sees itself in you."
"I'm not a vampire either!" Willow said waving the cross in front of her, as the vampire stepped toward her. Laughing softly, Evil Willow shook her head and tilted it to one side.
"Silly rabbit," she teased, "the vampire isn't the demon in me, not the real one. It's you."
Willow felt tears coming to her eyes.
"It's not true." She argued, but inside she felt something crumble. The vampire smiled.
"One day, you'll snap. And the darkness within," she gestured again to Willow's chest, "will be out here." She waved her hand carelessly around her.
"That's never gonna happen." Willow said stubbornly. "I'm not dark."
Evil Willow rolled her eyes.
"Bored now."
Willow shifted uncomfortably and the two stood in silence for a moment. Finally Willow spoke again.
"What would happen?" she asked tentatively, "If….hypothetically speaking…I went dark and stuff…"
Evil Willow grinned.
"That's the best part."
Willow felt all strange suddenly, and lost her balance, almost falling over. Evil Willow reached forward and grabbed her by the hair. Pulling her up to gape at her neck, the vampire said one last thing;
"You don't need to lose your soul to be evil. But it's a start."
Willow answered that with a scream, and her Slayer friend came running into the room. Clocking the vampire over the head with a kick, Buffy pulled her away from the startled witch. Willow stared for a moment at the vampire version of herself. It just smiled slyly back.
"Bored now."
