AN: Here's a random little oneshot I wrote a while back. I personally don't think it's that good. Ah, anyway, it's something to read. Well, here ya go!
Shell Shocked
Courtney sat curled up with her knees tucked under her chin. She was at her favorite thinking place, a hill on the outskirts of the island. No one had ever dared bothering her there until…
"Hi there, Princess," an obnoxious voice called out. Courtney sighed, pulling herself back to reality and stood, hands on her hips.
"What do you want, Duncan," she asked, glaring viciously.
"Just wanted to check on my favorite princess," he replied, smirking and putting his arm around her shoulders.
"Will you please stop calling me that," she asked, though secretly, she loved it. She sat back down on the blanket she'd spread out for herself. The sun was setting over the lake and she sighed happily at the gorgeous view. To her surprise, Duncan sat down calmly next to her, setting his hand down close to hers.
"What brings you up here? Something on your mind? Maybe a certain delinquent you're secretly in love with," he smirked, gently nudging her and winking. Courtney rolled her eyes, trying to hide her blush. In all honesty, he'd guessed exactly right.
"As if. Keep dreaming Duncan," Courtney snapped, rolling her eyes again.
"I'll count on it, babe," he said with another wink, sliding his hand closer to hers. "Anyway, did I ever mention my name? How do you know I wasn't talking about another shockingly attractive delinquent?" Courtney blushed and looked away, frowning in discomfort.
"Whatever Duncan, you've ruined my peaceful evening. I'm just gonna leave." She stood and started to walk away. Duncan jumped up and grabbed her hand, sending tingles down her spine.
"Please don't leave, I'm sorry." His teal eyes were impossible to say no to, so she grudgingly turned and sat beside him. His smile was so happy, she couldn't help smiling back.
"How did you know I was up here," Courtney asked, glancing sideways at him.
"Just a guess. This is the most beautiful place on the island, so it makes sense that the most beautiful girl would be here," Duncan said, glancing over at her with a genuine smile in the place of his typical smirk. Courtney blushed beet red yet again. She glanced down at her hands, one of which had somehow ended up in his. She suddenly realized how close they were sitting. She glanced back up and found his face startlingly close to hers. Onyx eyes met teal and he leaned in, closing the distance between them. Courtney's mind went blank as their lips met. All of her confusion was gone. She finally understood how much she liked him. As suddenly as he'd appeared, he was gone, no longer by her side. She blinked in confusion and tried to stop her head from spinning. Two strong arms suddenly wrapped around her and a voice whispered in her ear "Catch you later, princess." Then, he was gone, leaving a shell-shocked Courtney, now with even more on her mind.
