Disclaimer: You don't need to rub in my face the fact that I don't own The Hunger Games.
Authors note: This is after the decision that there will be a final, symbolic Hunger Games for the children of the Capitol.
"What was that?" Peeta demanded as he followed me out of the conference room slamming the door behind him.
"What was what?" I asked, not entirely sure.
"That, in there, you voting for the Hunger Games of the Capitol children!" he was shouting now. I needed to get him somewhere nobody would hear us. With that I grabbed his sleeve and tugged him into the nearest room I could find. After a while I finally broke the silence.
"Well why not, they did it to us didn't they?"
"Katniss, the children didn't have a say in any of this. Besides they're children!" Peeta countered.
"Yeah, well so were we. It's no different to what they did to us,"
"But there's the thing, they didn't do anything to us it was the Capitol authority. Annie and Beete agree with me,"
"Peeta, you don't get it do you? We didn't have a say either, we got punished for what our ancestors did years ago, still us children are punished. They didn't get the choice of what they were born into, well guess what neither did we. They're not entirely innocent, they laughed at us when we died. I saw some with plastic swords and machetes' thinking it was all a game,"
"Not knowing it was actually real. They just thought it was fake and you can't blame them it's not like anybody told them, they're just children,"
"They're always just children aren't they, so are all of us. They think it's fake, we live it, some of us twice without warning and they think it's just some game. Anyway, this isn't a punishment to the children as much as it is to their parents and the people of the Capitol. Other than their wealth and ignorance of what goes on in the real world, what is the difference between them and us?" the question hangs in the air as Peeta stares at me in disgust. Then finally he says.
"The difference is…We're not cold blooded," moments later Effie peers through the door and sighs.
"There you are. Well come on then, we have to get you prepped and suited up for…" She couldn't say it so I put her out of her misery.
"For Snow's execution, I know," then she puts of a smile and takes a good long look at Peeta and me.
"You two have grown so much," tears started to form in her eye's "Well come on then, no nead to keep your prep team waiting," with that I walk out of the room after Effie. On the way to the room I have been assigned to, I can't take my mind off Peeta's last words.
"We are not cold blooded"
