Long ago, in at least the 14th Century.

He sighed. He had set to work planning out his greatest works, but had unintentionally thought up an eighth doll. But, he had been inspired; felt his collection needed one more. She was based on water, flowing and being as free as it. She also controlled ice, her attacks being ruthless when angered. He sighed, and set down the doll's plan, locking it away until another time.

Later, in the 21st Century, he was cleaning out his storage closet, when he came across her plans again. He remembered them, and how she would've looked in his mind. Tears came to his eyes as he remembered the other reason he was inspired to make her. He sighed. Then thought it a great tribute. He put the plans on his desk and set to work.

At last, she was finished. He had given her beautiful wavy brunette hair, slightly different from his third and fourth creation's. Though closed, he could almost see the fuchsia pink eyes he had given her. He couldn't wait to see her. He dressed her in the clothes he had made. A teal blue dress, much like his third creation's, but shorter, and shoes like his sixth, only blue. In her hair, she had little light blue roses, holding back the hair on either side of her face. He smiled at the creature, then wandered out of the room for a moment.

He returned to find things the way they were, nothing changed. He smiled again and walked over to the desk, opening up the box he had left to get. He spoke softly to the doll, yet nothing else in the room could hear him. He pulled something out, hidden from view, and held it to the doll. She started to glow, as her body absorbed the object. He picked up a key nearby and twisted it several times in a hole in her back.

The man got to his feet, and looked out the window behind him, waiting for the object to take effect. He heard a shuffling, and a quiet moaning. Then, he heard her move, off the table. She gave a little 'Oof!' as she hit the floor, and a quiet pop was heard. A rustle of clothing and another pop told him that, whatever had came out, she had put back in. A small, aqua blue orb floated over to him, then morphed into a pixie. He spoke to it. The only word that anything could've caught was the word, 'Teardrop'.

The pixie floated behind him, and there was a babyish giggling and cooing as she stared, fascinated at the pixie. Then, she focused again on the man at the window. He smiled, not at the scenery, but at the sound of footsteps. Then, they stopped. A cute, squeaky voice came from behind him.

"Father?" He turned, and smiled at the love, yet confusion in her pink eyes, a slightly darker shade than his first beauty. There was also a childish glimmer in them, telling him straight away that she'd get along with his sixth creation.

"Marina."

This is in dub format, by the way. And it is one of two prequels to a future Rozen Maiden story. It's kind of a series. This, plus the other prequel, then the story itself, then the big finisher separate story. I just think it'd be a lot cooler, and tenser if I do one story, leave it at a cliffhanger, then continue it in another story.

Now then, I own nothing. Peach-Pit does. The only things I own is the mysterious Marina, and the gnomes beneath my bed. They shouldn't have been trying to steal the faeries' gold. ^_^
