I don't own Red vs Blue.
Tucker sat there in the Pelican for what felt like ages, but was only a few moments. They had just landed at crash site Bravo with several other troops that had just escaped the nuclear blast that destroyed Armonia, and killed General Doyle in the process. Doyle hadn't really been a friend, but how did you react when someone you knew had just committed suicide to save you. The thought of Doyle caused him to remember something that happened not long after the attack had started on the capital. Tucker pulled out the envelope that he had stuffed in a spare compartment in his power armor. The front simply read 'To the Red's and Blues' .
Making up his mind Tucker opened up the envelope and found two folded up pieces of paper. One had simply 'Re Emily Gray' written on it. Tucker put that one aside when Wash came in, his helmet tucked under his arm for once. His scared face had a somewhat haunted look to it, and Tucker could only guess at the memories the ex Freelancer was reliving.
"Hey. You alright, " Wash asked.
"As alright as yeah can be," Tucker sighed, as he yanked off his own helmet so he could look Wash in the eye.
"What's that, " Wash questioned, pointing to the paper in Truckers hand.
"A message from beyond the grave," Tucker replied as he glanced at the letter and started reading it.
If I die, please see to it that all my personal effects are given to my cousin Arthur Doyle. He lives on Earth in London. Please give the other letter in this envelope to Emily. My only regret was that I didn't have the courage. To Reds and Blues, you inspired us to do great things that we wouldn't normally do. To Vineca Kimbell, I know that I am leaving Choris in excellent hands. To all of the people of Choris, never give up fighting for what you believe in. Yours truly General Donald Doyle.
Tucker had to swallow the knot in his throat as he paced the letter to Wash. He hesitated for a moment then picked up the other letter. Getting to his feet he walked out in search of Grey. Tucker didn't have to look to hard, he found her sobbing uncontrollably with Donut trying to comfort her. Grif and Simmons stood awkwardly to one side trying to think of a way to help.
"Emily this is for you. It's from Doyle, " Tucker said, offering the letter to the mad doctor. Grey slowly took it and started reading it. A new wave of tears came out, but this time with a choked laugh.
"He knew. I never told him, but he knew, " she sobbed, placing her free hand on her stomach. It took Tucker a moment to understand what Grey was saying. When he did his eyes nearly bugged out of his head.
"Holy shit, your pregnant, " he asked, drawing the attention of the others. Emily nodded in confirmation.
"I'm only six weeks in,but I know what to call it if it's a boy."
"Guys. Sorry to break this up, but Epsialon is waking up," called Carolina. With a heavy sigh Tucker put his helmet on, and giving Emily one final reassuring squeeze on the arm before going to join the others. They still had a war to fight, and Tucker would be damned if they didn't win.
A short one shot in honor of Donald Doyle. I ship Doyle/ Grey. Let me know what you think in a review.
