The Storm

The ship in sight,

I look through the spyglass at that man,

He just smiles and waves,

Smug at the thought,

that we wouldn't go through,

But then I went and said,

Go, go, go through,

His just in sight,

We will get through,

I didn't give any though,

At the storm that brewed,

Confident in the though,

That we will finally succeed,

The men told me to reconsider,

But I didn't listen,

I wish I could,

But I'll never forget,

What happened next,

When we went through,

The storm was too strong,

It tore at our sails,

Taking them out one by one,

Not giving time for us to react,

The ship was taking to much water,

So we knew for certain that we would sink,

I don't know what hit me,

But the next thing I knew,

I blacken out,

When next I woke up,

I was lying on a stray piece of wood,

In the middle of the sea,

With nothing in site,

As much as I tried,

I didn't see a thing,

I knew I was the only one who made it,

But I didn't want to admit to that,

3 days later,

A ship finally spotted me,

I was able to get home,

I was fired on the spot,

At fault for the death,

Of many good men and sailors,

I left in shame,

Searching for a way to redeem myself.
