Fish Out of Water

Love

Volcan the Hedgehog

"You've obviously improved. I'm proud of you," my master, Blaze, praised me as I unleashed the strongest flames that lay deep in my soul and had lit the nearby sea on fire.

"Do you need anything else?" I questioned Blaze.

She shook her head, "No. You're an exellent student. I'm proud of you and hope you continue doing as well as you have."

"Has my diet been working well?"

She nodded, "You have been getting the needed calories and vitamins you need. As a growing boy, you should not worry as much but rather eat as much as you need."

"Great..."

"You've been too good. Please relax and forget about your diet tonight, Volcan. You're only thirteen and yet you are slightly stronger than me," Blaze gestured back to the homes along the beach. Her lavander pelt seemed to catch on fire from the intese heat as she waiting for me to follow, though I couldn't follow. A figure in the water caught my eye. It seemed like a girl around my age but a bit smaller.

"Blaze, may you excuse me for a moment," I glanced at her.

"Of course. Why? Is something wrong?"

"I'll be right back!" I hurried off toward the ocean.

The girl lay fataly on the surface of the water, scarlet gushing from her side. Scared, I heaved her out of the water and darted to Blaze. Blaze took only one look at the girl and decided to run her to the nurse. Her wounds were sevre and if they were not treated soon, she would die.

I followed Blaze to the hospital as the girl opened her eyes slightly.

"Where...am...I...?" she stuttered while observing her surroundings and realizing that she was somewhere she knew wasn't her home. Freaking out, she attempted to dogpaddle out of my arms as I gripped her tighter.

"Stop freaking out! Your wounds will only get worse!" I barked as she stopped her efforts to escape.

When we reached the hospital, the girl was urgently taken to intesive care for her wounds as Blaze gave me one final command.

"Protect her," she whispered in my ear, smiling. From the twinkle in her eyes, she knew one thing already about this girl. She was my love. I thought as though Blaze was crazy, yet, my heart told me she is my true love.
