"I need a hero
To save my life
A hero will save me
Just in time" —Hero, by Skillet
"Don't make people into heroes John, there's no such thing and if there is I certainly wouldn't be one." John stared at Sherlock, anger pulsing through his veins and disappointment tugging at his heart. Finally, he couldn't take it.
"Yeah, well you're my hero Sherlock, whether you like it or not!" Sherlock stared at him, and for once, John thought, he seems genuinely surprised. "Before I met you, I had a limp and a dominant hand that shook so much I couldn't sign my own name!" He swallowed, and braced himself for exactly how much his life would change once Sherlock knew everything. "I...I was going to kill myself, Sherlock," he said softly.
"What?"
"I was going to shoot myself in the head with the gun that you're bloody so fond of!" Tears streamed down his face as he stared at his speechless hero. "I was going to kill myself that night when I went home because before I met you I had nothing to live for! And as soon as I met you, those plans went straight to hell. Meeting you... it saved my life Sherlock." He sighed and turned around. "I'm going to get some milk and beans. D'you want anything else?"
"No, no that's fine." Sherlock sat and thought for a moment. "And John-" he turned to where John had been standing, but he was already long gone. Sherlock smiled fondly. He always does that, just when I'm about to tell him. "You're my hero, too."
AN: Sorry for the shortness. Also, I've been reliably informed that this quite possibly sucked the big one, but I'm not taking it down unless that opinion is unanimous. I hope you enjoyed it anyway!
