Hello. This is a gift-fic for Zero Slash One, with the pairing of Cherubimon/Ophanimon. This is a what-if scenario, almost an AU of sorts. This uses the prompt of 'immune'.
Chapter One
Ophanimon's hands were glowing and for a moment, she saw Cherubimon return to his pure form but as soon as she moved her hands, she saw the other turn back to his corrupted form. The hope that begun rising in her immediately crushed. She had been so close. Why did he have to interfere now of all times? She could have saved him, she could have saved her precious friend if she had another minute. But once again, she was too slow. Like the time Seraphimon had been hit. If she had been faster, he could have been saved. It just needed a little more time and effort.
Another voice spoke "Immunity is a wonderful gift isn't it?"
Ophanimon gasped as she was thrown back a blast but luckily she had managed to grab hold of the Children's D-Tectors which contained their spirits. "Children, hurry you must escape!"
"We won't leave you Ophanimon!" Takuya said.
"We can save you!" Kouichi added.
Ophanimon gasped as Cherubimon grabbed hold of her.
"You dare to trick me, Ophanimon?" Cherubimon hissed in her ear. "How precious, seems Seraphimon had you under his control more than I thought." A blue mist formed in his hands and he pressed it against Ophanimon's neck.
"C-Children, go, you need to survive...in order to fight," Ophanimon said, she could feel her strength weakening as the blue mist surrounded her body. Was she going to die after all? Was Cherubimon going to torture her before she was killed? There had to be, there had to be some way for her to be able to save him. They were friends if nothing more. They had been so close once, they had been inseperable. Through blurred vision, she saw the children make their getaway and managed a smile. Well, even if she was sacrificed, at least the hope of the digital world would remain alive.
"What?" She managed to mock. "Not going to chase them?"
Cherubimon let out a cold laugh. "I don't need to. They'll come to save you, won't they?"
"If they know any better, they won't," Ophanimon said.
Cherubimon shrugged. "That doesn't matter. I have you by my side...or I will soon, at least so I don't need anyone else." He hummed a little. "For now, just sleep."
As much as she wanted to resist, Ophanimon found herself getting drowsier by the minute and having no other choice, she let go, allowing the darkness to envelop her inside.
