It all began on one rainy day. My parents went hunting, like they always did. I always would try to go with them, but they told the time wasn't right for me to step out of the shelter of our den. It was a soggy place, under a porch. I could never step foot out from under our den. My parents said there was a grumpy dog that almost killed my dad. Other than that my life was any other rogue cats life. I was named Raven after my dark fur. When my parents went hunting I was left with the company of our friend, Chestnut. Well, one day when they went hunting, they never came back. I waited days, but they never came. That next day Chestnut, so high on catmint, he stumbled out towards that old dog, jumped right on his back and the dog then grabbed him. I never wanted to get close to the edge of the porch fearing the dog would get me too. But I was growing hungry. So one day I decided to run for the fence surrounding the porch. It wasn't very big. I ran, ran straight towards the fence then leaped. I got one claw on the fence and then I felt as if everything had gone wrong. I looked back to see the dog, with a hold of my tail. I yowled as he tossed me around. "This is it." I think. Then, I hear a loud screech. I fall to the ground as the dog drops me and runs, tail between his legs. I looked around and saw hundreds, maybe thousands of cats standing around me. I screeched, then curled up in a ball. A moment later I was in the air again. Being carried by the scruff by a cat. "Mum?" I ask. A cat walks up to walk beside me. "Hi! We saved your life." He looked at me curiously. "Why did you call our leader your mum?" I look back at him and close my eyes. "I don't want to talk about it." Then, the cat carrying me dropped me. "I'm Riverstar. Who are you?" Riverstar looked at me and I suddenly wanted to curl up in a ball. I felt like a mouse. "Raven." I said in a small voice. "What? I can hardly hear you." "Raven!" I almost screamed at her. She looked at me in surprise. The cat that talked to me before walked up to me. "Why did you scream like that?" He asked. I just closed my eyes and curled up to sleep.
