Despite It All
It is sometimes said that love can cross all boundaries. That love does not pay attention to war and strife, for love is the strongest and wildest emotion. It does not pay attention to rules and laws for which men and angels lay down.
I fell in love with an angel, so sweet and so beautiful, that I thought I would never see her beauty in anything else. Our love crossed those imaginary boundaries that silly men draw up. We were enemies, on the sides of a war that in time would claim all those who were involved.
I was a demon, she an angel. Such was our case, of such a pair of "star cross'd lovers" rivaled only by Romeo and Juliet. Even those two lovers paled below the love we shared. In time it would destroy us and all the angels and demons in Heaven, Hell, and Earth.
I digress. It did not destroy us literally, for I am still here, but it shattered men's dreams of peace between us. And such a dream is folly in the first place, but when you throw in demon and angel teenagers, it gets messy.
Are we so wrong for adoring the war? The strife? The pain? The misery? For it is what we demons are created for in the first place. We crave that constant battle. We exalt over the carrion that our skirmishes bring to us. Theologians and men have told me that I am a thing of evil from birth, so I can not be held for this burning desire and love that fuels me.
Perhaps you judge me harshly for what I say, but if you knew the story then all would be forgotten by you and perhaps you would find yourself falling.
But keep in mind as you listen to my tale- Love is eternal and we are the strings that it may weave into whatever designs it wishes. Who are we to say differently?

*Okay, that was a little short, but hey, it was a prologue. Be brutal!
