Disclaimer: I don't own them…but I do own the plot! That's gotta be something…

Author's Note: Been kinda down lately. Then this came to me…surprise ending anyone?

Nick's POV

I walk slowly to where she is. There is lush green grass everywhere, as well as dozens of flowers, and a couple bushes. I smile softly, and sit down beside her. "I brought you some flowers, babe." I say, and place a dozen daffodils between us. I start talking about work, and she just listens, saying nothing. "Grissom and Warrick still can't solve that case. It's driving up the wall. You should see them. It's like they're on a warpath every night in the lab." I laugh at the mental picture I get as I remember the last time Warrick and I had crossed paths. He had been extremely angry, finding nothing at the crime scene, and they had no suspects. "Catherine took some vacation time. She's been spending some extreme bonding time with Lindsay. I guess that she knows that life's too short now." I look over, and smile a sad smile. "I guess we all know that life's too short." A single tear runs down my cheek, and I slowly wipe it away, and change the subject to something a little happier. "My sister, Lisa, just had her first kid yesterday. She's ecstatic, and guess what she named her?" I lean over like I'm telling a secret. "She named her Sara." I grin like a goober, and stretch my legs out in front of me. "Sara Anne Kepler. I think it's cute, what about you?" I listen for a response, but still she remains silent. Birds chirp instead, and a cool breeze blows, slightly ruffling my hair. I've let it grow out from the buzz cut. She said she didn't like it that short. To be truthful, I didn't like it like that either. We sit in silence for a while. There seems to be a lot of that lately, silence. The quiet starts to bug me if left too long, but right now I'm enjoying the quiet. I hear a car pull up, and the door opened. Footsteps approach me from behind, but I still say nothing. I just close my eyes. I feel a hand on my shoulder, and I look up at Catherine. She gives me a sad smile, and crouches down beside us.

"Hey, how ya holding up?" She asks me. I look at her with a somber look, and she understands. She always understands. I think it's the mother in her, because she always seems to look out for all of us. Even Grissom, though he's older than she is. "Warrick called me. Said he couldn't get a hold of you and he was getting worried. We're all worried about you, Nicky." Her eyes seemed to bore into mine, but I just nodded. I knew they all worried about me. I worried about myself sometimes. "He wanted to tell you something. But when you didn't answer your cell, he called me and told me to tell ya that we got him." Her face carried a small smile, and relief seemed to wash over me some. They had gotten him. "You wanna come to celebrate? Brass said that it was his treat." Her blue eyes sparkled some as she smiled, and I gave her a small smile of my own. I stand up, and look back at the person whom I came to visit.

"Ya hear that girl? We got the man who did this to you." My eyes started to water, and Catherine hugged me. We silently headed back to her car, weaving around the other graves. "Same time next week, Sidle?" I whisper before climbing into Catherine's Tahoe. I can almost hear my best friend laugh at my weak attempt to joke. Almost, but not quite. Catherine started the vehicle, and we drove off to Brass' house, and I could tell that Sara would be waiting for me back there. She always held me to my word. And I always kept it. Always.
