"Which one of you lunatics thought this was a good idea?"
As a group, the Losers had faced innumerable, heavily armed and psychotic enemies. They'd run unflinchingly into situations others fled from. Basically. Each and everyone on the team was a tried and true badass.
Said badasses cringed and tried to fade back into the woodwork as Jolene and Jackie glared at them, hands on hips. Always quick to react, Aisha jabbed a finger in the direction of her male teammates, saying, "It was their idea!"
Overhead, the thumps of footsteps sounded, followed by manic giggling.
Jackie looked up for a moment, then pinned Clay with a withering gaze. "If my daughter falls off the roof and gets hurt I'ma nail your nuts to the wall with a soup spoon," she declared, causing the big man to pale.
Moments later, a large shape dropped past the window, landing heavily on the lawn. Before anyone could say a word, Jensen popped to his feet, hands up, hollering, "Nailed the landing!"
A second, smaller body followed, though Jensen caught his niece before she could land badly. Setting her down, they scampered off toward the woods.
Still giggling.
All this happened in under 5 seconds.
Taking a deep breath, Jackie closed her eyes and then said, "Okay, new plan. Jolene and I are going to take Joey and go out to dinner. You four get to contain the two cranked up Tasmanian devils."
"Good idea," Jolene agreed, grabbing her purse and son as there were groans of protest from the others.
Silencing them with a gaze, Jackie said, "Think about this the next time you give my daughter and brother a pound of maple sugar candy.
Outside, the roar of a chainsaw kicked up.
It was going to be a long night for the Losers.
: ) : )
Comments, pretty please?
