Disclaimer: Siriusly J. K. Rowling, you need to have some stuff where Ron and Hermione were just dating before the epilogue! Clearly, if I think this, I'm not J. K. Rowling and do not own Harry Potter
"And honestly," Harry grinned, "I've had enough trouble for a lifetime." He yawned and said, "Well, I'm going to get some sleep. Bye!" Then he was gone.
Hermione shifted uncomfortably. She wanted to talk to Ron, but she really didn't know what to say. What did you say to someone that you'd been kissed a few hours previously with no warning? "Um, Ron, I wanted to say…." she never got to finish her sentence. Ron had leaned over and pressed his lips to hers. He stood up straight again and she stared at him, in shock. "Wha-?"
"Hermione," he cut in. He was grinning broadly. "Life's too short to be awkward. If there's one thing that I've learned after all this, it's that." With that, he leaned over to kissed her again.
After a while, the former Headmasters and Headmistresses began to feel uncomfortable and one by one, they left to visit their friends in other portraits in the castle. Albus Dumbledore, however, had been anticipating this day for quite some time now and wanted to savor this moment until they started arguing again.
Minerva sniffed as she hurried down the corridor to her office. Yes, she was Headmistress now. She sniffed again. Too many people had died tonight….too many people.
"Dumbledore," she said. She'd heard Severus say this and assumed that it was still the password. At the time, she couldn't understand why he'd picked Dumbledore as his password; perhaps guilt, but now she knew. "Dumbledore!" she repeated a little louder. "DUMBLEDORE!" she shouted. "Can you even understand what I'm saying!" she shouted at the gargoyle.
"Eh?" it asked her and she realized that it was intoxicated.
"May I please go through!" she asked, irritated.
"Oh, yeah," he grumbled and he leaped aside revealing the hidden staircase.
She gasped when she entered her office. It was completely empty except for two people who seemed to be glued to each other. "Miss Granger! Mr. Weasley!" she shouted. The way she'd said it, you would have thought that she was just doing patrols and she'd found two students out after-hours. Sadly, life was not that simple anymore.
Hermione leapt away from Ron, red in the face, and looking horrified. Ron simply looked dazed. Minerva noticed that all of the former Headmasters and Headmistresses had disappeared from their portraits except for one Albus Dumbledore who was smiling and appeared to be fighting the urge to laugh.
Minerva took a deep breath, deciding what to say. Finally, "If you would excuse us, I need to speak in private with Professor Dumbledore."
Hermione nodded, looking terrified. Her face was redder than Ron's hair. She hurried out of the room, dragging Ron with her. Just before he left though, he could have sworn that he saw McGonagall wink at them and after the door closed behind him, he was sure that he heard her grumble.
Hermione finally stopped running in when she reached a completely deserted corridor (even the picture frames were empty) to catch her breath. "That…was…..I can't believe…." she seemed incapable of completing thought let alone a sentence.
Ron, on the other hand, just started laughing. Hermione looked affronted, but that only made him laugh harder.
"What!" she snapped.
"I'm not sure," he said, still chortling. After a moment, she began laughing too.
"Let's just not do that again," she said still laughing.
"What," he said, immediately, his laughter ceased. "The snogging or the getting caught?"
"The getting caught, definitely." She took a step towards him. "The snogging we should definitely do again!" With that, she kissed him again.
