Not fair: Grumpy complains about the ending in "snow white". Slight Grumpy/Snow
He told himself not to get attached, just as he told his brothers not to get attached. She was a female, and he knew she was going to be nothing but trouble. He tried to convince his brothers to get rid of her, but he could see they were already smitten and he was outnumbered, so she had stayed. He tried to convince them she was a pain, especially when she told them to wash up, who did she think she was, their mother? But the others would hear nothing of it.
When she danced with them he stood off to the side, trying not to feel jealous at the way she looked at his brothers. She was trouble, and he stood alone in being utterly determined not to loose his heart to her.
That morning when he told her to be careful, he couldn't help looking back at her, and sighing.
As he went to work, he found he couldn't keep his mind off of her, and he knew that he had done the very thing he had promised not to do; he had lost his heart to her. When the woodland creatures came to fetch him and his brothers, he felt his heart drop into his stomach, and when he saw her lying on the floor, still, the life gone out of her eyes, he felt tears.
Even though he got his revenge by killing the evil queen, he felt no better. She was gone, and there was nothing he could do about it. He visited every night, after his brothers had gone to bed, just gazing at her. When the prince came and woke her with a kiss, he watched, but didn't interfere as she rode off into the sunset to forget about them. It wasn't fair, but since when was anything?
