"You know, I don't think I've ever seen you without a book, Hermione." Fred sat on the ground next to her and leaned back on the trunk of the tree.

"You have now. What're you doing down here, anyway?"

"I could ask you the same question. Most people don't just sit out in the cold."

"I was thinking, and when I'm inside there's always too much going on. I just needed some peace."

"Ginny talk your ear off? Is she talking about Dean or Harry?"

Hermione laughed a little, Ginny and Dean hadn't been together since before the battle. "Harry. He's all she ever talks about. But, you still haven't told me why you're out here."

Fred shrugged, "I saw a pretty girl sitting in the cold. I was curious as to why."

Hermione blushed, she was used to Fred's constant play-flirting, but for some reason, this didn't seem fake. "Oh."

"Did I just make Hermione Granger blush? I didn't think it was possible!" He laughed a little at his joke. Hermione spent most of her life blushing at something or other.

"But, really. Did your Mum send you out here to feed me; because, really, I've eaten enough to keep me full for the rest of my life."

"I would never allow myself to be used in that manner. Mum doesn't even know I'm here. I'm here for the same reason as you. I needed peace. Instead, I find a pretty witch sitting under my favorite tree. I can't say that I'm complaining." Hermione blushed furiously again and Fred chuckled.

"You really do blush quite often, don't you?"

Hermione nodded, "It gets old. People can tell when I'm lying, embarrassed, angry. My mother always said that it made me easy to read."

Fred nodded and scooted closer to the bushy headed witch next to him. "So you can't lie effectively? Tell me, what do you think of me?"

She sighed and thought for a moment, she really didn't think of Fred often enough to think anything of him other than the fact that he was a great inventor and hilarious. Not to mention charming, but she wasn't going to tell him that.

"Well, I think that you're brilliant when it comes to your jokes and pranks."

"That's it? I'm not so amazingly handsome that you spend all of your free time thinking about snogging me?" He put a hand over his heart, "That hurts, 'Mione."

She laughed and blushed.

"So you do think I'm amazingly handsome! And you spend all of your free time thinking about snogging me!" His face held the famous Weasley Twin Grin. (So awesome that it's capitalized.)

"I wouldn't say that…"

"So, just handsome? I can live with that." He stopped grinning for a moment, and reached his hand out to stroke her cheek.

"I've always wondered what it'd be like to kiss you…" Blushing again, this time so deeply that it looked as though she had spent hours in the sun, she leaned forward a bit, hoping that he would kiss her.

"Hermione, it's freezing… what're you doing out here?" Ginny walked towards her best friend who was sitting under a dead tree, her face burning red at nothing.

"Fred was… oh." Instantly, her eyes began to water.

"'Mione... you do know that he's... gone, right?"

"Yes, of course I do. I must have just fallen asleep or something… let's go inside."

"I think that's a good idea."

As Hermione and Ginny walked back towards the Burrow, Hermione couldn't help but glance quickly back and she could have sworn that she saw a flash of bright red hair.
