Quite frankly, Alfendi enjoyed the way Lucy's ears wiggled. Usually when it happened was when she giggled or laughed or when she cracked a case. It was the strangest little thing when he saw it.

It made him smile.

Lucy peered up at her mentor and grinned. "Wot are you looking at, Prof?" She giggled and he saw it happen again. The ear wiggle.

"Nothing, Lucy." He didn't want to ask something like that. It would seem a bit odd for that to just come up in conversation out of the blue. Shifting his eyes away from her, he actually began to wonder how she did that. He had never seen anyone else do that. When he was little, he remembered seeing a woman in a movie who could wiggle her nose, and sometimes when a person moved their eyebrows up and down enough, they would partially move their ears but this was different.

What his assistant did was, he dared admit it outside his mind, adorable. The way they moved, it seemed like she had so much joy, and other parts of her just felt like showing it.

It was when she frowned that a twinge of guilt shot through Alfendi's heart. "It doesn't seem like nowt." She tilted her head slightly, curious red eyes trying to look into his. "Are you blushing, Prof?"

Idiot.

"No. I don't blush, Baker. That is part of an emotion is for fools." Potty scoffed, sitting back into his chair. He noticed Lucy not buying it. She was smirking and her eyes were narrowed. "Stop looking at me like that, Baker, or I'll dig out your eyeballs." His threats apparently didn't phase her. She was still not believing him. "Lucy!" He darted out of his chair and loomed over her. "I'm not blushing, and even if I was, it didn't have anything- nothing- to do with you at all."

"I didn't say it were over me. I just said you were blushing. Were it about me, Prof?"

The inspector growled at her, despising how well she manipulated him, even if it was the simplest trick, the fact that it went so easily over his head without him realizing angered him more than his Placid side did.

Her laugh fell onto his ears once again, and once again, her ears moved in time with it.

His heart was beating loud and he could hear it.

"Aye. I think I'm right." She put a hand on his chin. "Your cheeks are pink. 'eck, Prof, even your ears."

Her simple words, while making his stomach do twists, didn't make his frown go away. He went to grab her wrist-

-And Lucy pulled him into a kiss.

Eyes wide, shock forcing the Prof back to his calmer side, he had no choice but to follow along. Not like it took long for him to catch up, anyway. He felt Lucy's hand slide behind his neck, and she forced him closer into the snogging.

An amber eye peaked around Lucy's chestnut hair.

There were her cute, round ears, wiggling in the most adorable way they could.
