A/N : I found a prompt on .com/WritingPrompts/ . It was about being in your front yard, and your neighbors lawn gnome starts talking to you.
(Kagomes POV)
I sat under the blossoming sakura tree on the shiro grounds, with my mate, Sesshomaru. I smile as I think about how my relationship with the stoic demon lord began.
(Flashback)
I was just leaving Ayumis house, where I had been studying since school let out 4 hours ago. I asked her if I could study with her because I knew I wouldn't get the chance to at home. Inuyasha was bound to be there, yelling at me to get ready to go back and look for more shards. I glared at the sidewalk in front of my best friends house.
"Hey You!" I heard from behind me. I stopped and turned around, expecting to see Ayumis father, telling me I forgot my book or something. I did not see anything.
"Miko!" The voice called again. That stopped me in my tracks. No one here knew that I was a miko. Mikos aren't even suppose to exist anymore, since demons don't. I felt something tugging my skirt and I looked down, to see her moms lawn gnome at my feet.
"You best be careful Shikon Miko." It said. I blinked. I knew I must be crazy now. No more caffeine before bed when I am here.
"Are you talking to me?" I asked it.
"Yes I'm talking to you. Do you see anyone else here?"
"Point taken. How do you know I am a miko? And how do you know about the Shikon jewel?"
"I am a gnome demon. I can sense these things. Now listen. A demon by the name of Naraku is planning to use the jewel to steal your sole to make himself invincible. You must not allow him to take your soul or the world will end." I nodded, not sure why I was talking to a ceramic lawn decoration.
"Oh, and by the way, the youkai that saves you is your true mate, not the Inu hanyou." It told me and walked away.
Just like I expected, Inuyasha was at the shrine, ready to go. I grabbed my bag, which I had packed this morning, just in case.
Not 3 hours after we arrive in the Fuedal Era, and Inuyasha runs off to Kikyou. i storm off and end up being caught by Kagura and Kanna, who was holding Narakus infant. I tried to fight them off, but they knocked me out with some new wind attack of Kaguras.
When I wake up I am in a cave somewhere in the Western Lands. The only reason I knew where I was at was that I had been here before, when it was just me and Inuyasha.
Naraku grinned ferally at me. His laughter rang in my ears.
"Where is you little lapdog now? Probably mating to the more useful Kikyou." He sneered. He grabbed the nearly complete jewel from around my neck, when suddenly I saw a green whip slash at him. I looked up to see Sesshomaru glaring at the spider.
"Today is the day you die Naraku." Sesshomaru stated in a deadly voice, just before helping me up. He grabbed Kannas mirror and shattered it at our feet. I grabbed my bow and arrows and shot one at the infant, which was then purified. Naraku screamed, before jumping at me, intent on killing me. Sesshomaru shot his now poisonous claws into the evil hanyou, killing him.
After that, he started walking away. He stopped only a moment to talk to me.
"Come Miko. You are to join my group." With that he walked off. I got up and followed.
At sunset that very day, Sesshomaru asked to court me. A week later and we were mated.
(End flashback)
I looked up into my beloveds face, and smiled.
