Watcher

I check up on them. I doubt they know it, now I am non-corporeal and don't register on sensors.

Neelix seems sadder. He's still irrepressibly jubilant, but the glint in his eyes that was once there...it's gone. As I go past him, I think I see a twinkle in his eye...must be the lighting.

Harry's doing well. Hasn't really changed much, and he's still an ensign, but that will change in good time...

I'm glad Tom found B'Elanna, glad he's happy. And now they are both...completed somehow.

Seven of Nine...she's changed a lot since I last saw her. I'm glad she's befriended the Doctor. He needs someone to care for him. Their relationship is a little...different, but she's still a friend and he needs that.

Tuvok. Being telepathic, I wonder if he senses me, especially as he suddenly looks toward the candle that remains in the window. I am gratified that I made an impression.

Then I move on...I often wonder about the captain...sometimes I am very concerned about her. But now I am just curious. I find her in and Commander Chakotay talking in her ready room. They seem happy, too, but then Captain Janeway gets a sad, faraway look in her eyes, like that of a mother remembering a lost child. I am touched by this. Chakotay notices her eyes and stops talking.

"I wonder if she still checks up on us," she says softly.

"Captain?"

"I wonder what ever happened to Kes?"

Author's Note: Consider this to be if "Fury" never happened. (Or not, it's up to you.)
