A Note From Lara: If they wanted to make a slogan for the promo for "Close To You," it would be something like "PEMMA: It just got better."

"She is going to kill thousands of people," Angela said harshly. "Maybe tens of thousands. Her power is dangerous and seductive and if she isn't careful, it may control her."

Peter was floored. He couldn't believe what he was hearing, couldn't believe what she was saying. "What?" he gasped. It suddenly felt like all the oxygen had been sucked from the room, and he placed a hand against the door frame, trying to steady himself. He couldn't deal with this, not now. Not so soon after losing Nathan, he just couldn't! Emma was the one truly good thing in his life right now, and he didn't know what there was left for him if this prophecy came to pass.

Angela must have seen his horror written on his face, because her bitter expression softened. "You can't save her, Peter," she said firmly. "This is inevitable."

Maybe it was her word choice that sparked it in him, maybe it was something else. But suddenly Peter was seeing beyond his own violent reaction against the news, seeing paths that could lead up to the event she foretold... and paths that lead away.

He backed away from her, shaking his head. "Isn't that what you said about New York being destroyed? By me? That it was inevitable? That didn't happen, Mom, and neither will this. I'm going to be there for Emma the way someone should have been there for me. This isn't going to happen, okay?"

Peter turned and walked away. He didn't look back.
