This takes place between episode 7 and 8 of season 8, so Mulder is missing and Scully is pregnant.

The snow's coming down
I'm watching it fall
Lots of people around
Baby please come home
The average day, Scully didn't think much about him. She would have the occasional twinge of nostalgia, of missing how he did things compared to Doggett. Most of these memories came and went in an instant, and then she returned to life as usual. But this time of year her emotions were on the surface, and she found herself lost in though, constantly wishing that Mulder were back with her.

The church bells in town
All ringing in song
Full of happy sounds
Baby please come home
Scully was grateful that many women before her had claimed pregnancy hormones as an excuse, because it now gave her license to do the same. Whenever she got caught drifting off into her own world, or crying unexpectedly at every little thing, she reinforced the notion that the increase of chemicals running through her body had made her do it. The truth was that most of the time, she was thinking about how Mulder would react to the situation, or remembering the fact that he wasn't around, and there were no clues to lead them into the right direction.
They're singing "Deck The Halls"
But it's not like Christmas at all
Cuz I remember when you were here
And all the fun we had last year
Being surrounded by her family, Scully found herself too busy to dwell much on Mulder. Yet every question about her baby and how it would change her life just brought her right back around. She knew that her brother and mother only meant well, but pretty soon she would have to declare an end to the questions and discussions. It was just becoming too painful.

Pretty lights on the tree
I'm watching them shine
You should be here witha me
Baby please come home
"So Dana, what do you want Santa to bring you this year?" Bill asked at their Christmas Eve dinner.
"It's a little late for you to be trolling for gift ideas, isn't it?" she replied.
"Okay, what do you hope is on Santa's sleigh for you?"
Dana thought. Her most immediate answer was one she would never admit; she knew how Bill especially felt.
"A very Merry Christmas for us all," she said.

If there was a way
I'd hold back this tear
But it's Christmas day
Please
Baby please come home
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas!
