A sky full of lighters

My 19th birthday is coming up and I know everybody must be planning for it right this second. Just one more week until the big day and this year I'm spending it with everyone I love. Everyone seems so flustered even Eugene. But one thing I'm not certain about is the lanterns. Were they going to do that this year? I mean I'm not missing anymore so why would they want to go through all that trouble. The lanterns, they basically brought me back and they mean so much to me.

"Are you done putting up the decorations Eugene?" The King asked me.
"Um almost I just need to make a few more adjustments," I replied back to him. I was excited today I was going to do it, I was going to ask her for hand in marriage. I've known Rapunzel for a whole year now, it was still a very vivid memory it was like it happened yesterday. I wasn't sure if I could top last year but I was determined to.

I'm so excited Eugene was taking me somewhere, blindfolded. I wondered what it could be? After the long suspense I felt him start to take my blindfold off. I couldn't believe it, here I was standing in front of the same boat me and him sat at the year before. There was flowers streaming down the side of the boat and floating around it. He grabbed my hand and helped me onto the boat.
"Happy birthday Blondie," Eugene said smugly.
I laughed he could always make me laugh no matter what. Even though I do miss my long blonde hair, "Why thank you Eugene."
He started to row the boat, I'm really hoping the lanterns would appear in the sky this year. He stopped rowing then looked me in the eyes. Then out of the corner of my eye I saw a dim light. I jumped up, they are going to be here! "I didn't think you'd be as excited as you were last year," Eugene said.
I turned to him, "I wasn't even sure if the kingdom was going to do them this year since I mean I'm here."
He laughed then pulled me closer to him, "are you kidding me there should be more than there has ever been!"
All at once millions of lanterns flew up into the sky. He was right there was way more then there was before. I gazed there for away I almost forgot I was still in his arms, "Well I guess you're right I just wasn't expecting it is all."
"Well than you're really not expecting this," he said smiling at me. He picked up something from underneath his seat then lifted it up at me, "Rapunzel… will you marry me?"
I froze for a second with my mouth hanging wide open. Then I picked up the ring and threw it onto my finger. I excitedly hugged him and then gave him a very romantic kiss
