Welp.

-Three hours ago-
Dead.
Tony Stark, her boyfriend, was dead.
That was all Pepper could think about, after she made the pilot turn the plane around and go back to New York.
Her heart was sinking and she felt empty, like her entire world had been crumpled like a piece of paper being tossed into a trashcan. He was all she had left and now he was gone.
And who knew 5 words could ruin her life completely.
1 Missed Call: Tony Stark
Tony, along with the rest of the group, were all currently standing around the hole left in the floor, while Bruce looked mighty embarrassed about the current situation.
"So you just...smashed...Loki into the floor? Just like that?" Tony asked, trying his absolute hardest to force back his laughter.
"Sir, Miss Potts is approaching." JARVIS alerted the group. At the sound of her name, Tony immediately tuned out Bruce, who was apologizing and looking very awkward.
"Pepper's here?" Tony said, his face lighting up like a child's on Christmas morning. "But she was supposed to be in DC by now."
"It appears she not there, seeing how she is in the elevator." The AI responded, making the group behind Tony laugh.
"Don't use that tone with me JARVIS." He said, hearing the ding of the elevator.
A fresh set of tears made themselves known as Pepper stepped out of the elevator. She looked around, not even noticing the group of six in front of her. All she could see was the giant hole in her floor.
"Pepper? Why aren't you in DC?"
That voice. That voice belonged to one person and he was dead. Or so she thought.
"Tony?" She asked, her voice hoarse from all the crying she's done the last few hours. "You-You're alive?" She took a few steps forwards, not believing her eyes. "But I thought you were dead! You fell and I saw I had a missed call and, you're actually alive."
Pepper ran over to him, well walked quickly considering she was wearing these killer heels she bought a few days ago. She threw her arms around him, burying her face in his shoulder and letting the tears come again. This time they were tears of relief, relief that Tony was alright.
Then it hit her.
More like hit him.
"What was that for?" Tony said, rubbing his cheek where a red mark in the shape of Pepper's hand was forming.
"Did it ever even come across your mind to call me and tell me you were alright? Tony I just spent the last 3 hours thinking you were dead! This is the second time I thought I'd never see you again! Two times Tony!"
He was holding her at arms length, rubbing her shoulders to try and calm her down. She was still rambling on about how that was two times too many. Instead of replying to all the questions she was now asking, he opted to go the other way of making her be quiet. He crashed his lips against hers in a passionate and 'yay I'm not dead and sorry for not telling you' way. It proved to be a very effective way of stopping her from talking, seeing as how she immediately kissed him back.
"Don't ever do that again." Pepper said, breaking apart the kiss.
"I don't ever make plans on flying into space with a nuke on my back ever again, if that's what you mean." Tony smirked.
"It was a nuke?" She asked, her voice low so only he could here.
"Surprise."
