The whole church was silent as Magnus stood in the aisle. He stood still, shoulders set in stone and face almost expressionless. Pink dye cut through black hair like the edges of a sunrise.
Alec took a deep breath, his arm still in Lydia's hand. He began to pull his arm back, rolling down his sleeve. He turned and caught Izzy's eyes, staring back at him with hidden joy, before he turned back to look at Magnus.
"Alec, tell this Warlock to leave" Maryse was clear on her discontent with Magnus' presence. Magnus' eyes softened at Alec. Alec stepped down from the altar, he footsteps loud to his ears. He looked at no one what, only at Magnus. What would he say?
"Magnus," Alec's voice was low are he came to a stop in front of Magnus, close enough that he could feel Magnus' breath on his neck. He skin tingled at the sensation. ", you're going to have to leave." Magnus' mouth opened slightly, eyes softening, barely concealing the pain he was feeling. Alec felt his heart drop when he said those words but he knew what would bring it floating back to his throat.
Alec reached out and took Magnus' hand, only at the edge. Magnus took a deep breath in, swallowed hard, and pulled away slightly, but Alec kept his grip. "But, I'm coming with you" Magnus stopped, heart beating wildly, mouth now forming a small smile. He took Alec's hand completely.
Alec turned and looked back at Lydia, still frozen at the altar. "I'm sorry, Lydia" he leaned past Magnus to glance at his mother "I'm sorry, mother"
Alec pulled Magnus close, lips against the warlock's ear. "Your place?" Magnus smiled and turned at walk out, Alec in tow. Alec tightened the hold he had on Magnus' hand. Maryse looked shocked, as did most of guests, but Alec didn't care. He knew, deep in his heart, he had made the right choice.
