This story is the first fanfiction I've ever wrote. I wrote while I had exams and needed to get it out of my head. I found it on my phone yesterday and decided to publish it.
It's a Jemily One Shot. Emily's POV. Kind of. It's second person, but Emily is this second person (does that make sense? I hope it does). All the mistakes are mine and english isn't my first language, so forgive me if you find any. I don't own Criminal Minds or any of the characters.
You come home from a case and she isn't there. It feels like you dreamt the past few years because you can't find a piece of her. Everything in the apartment belonging to her is gone.
The pictures of you two, of the team.
Gone.
The blanket she always used on the couch, cuddled in while watching a movie, reading a book or just doing nothing.
Gone.
The mug she drank coffee from.
Gone.
Her clothes in the closet.
Gone.
But you see the empty places and her pillow, it still smells like her. The vanilla scent of her shampoo and that smell, you can't describe it. It's just JJ.
You meet her on your first day at the BAU. And it felt like something finally fell into its preelected place. You became friends with her and Garcia. Girls Night at a bar or watching a movie became something you three did regularly. And the two of you grew closer. You began to act like an old married couple, something especially Morgan teased you with. And then suddenly you were insane enough to ask her out. And she agreed, you never thought she would.
You were seeing each other for six months when you first told her "I love you". And she said it back, even though you just had your first big fight.
After eight months you told the team. Despite your worries about their reaction they were happy for you two. They were a bit angry that you kept it a secret, but they saw how in love you were. And you thought that hasn't changed.
Because you love her. You love the way she laughs when she's with you, not caring what others would think. The way her blond hair gleams in the sun and how the color of her blue eyes always changes, depending on her mood. When she grabbed your hand and kissed you the first time in public, you thought you heart is going to melt. She knows everything about you. From your favorite color to the cake you got on your tenth birthday. She knows what helps you relax after a hard day and the little things that make you angry. She has the key to your heart, no, your heart is completely hers. She can make you the happiest person in the world. She's your home, your safe place. And you always thought you would be the same for her. That you're her home.
But it looks like it wasn't true. Because she is gone. And the only thing she left is a note saying:
I'm sorry Emily.
I hope you understand someday.
JJ
At that point you know something inside her must have changed. Something that made your relationship so intimate and special was that she stopped calling you Emily after the first date. You were Em. And she was Jen instead of JJ. You don't understand what could change that.
You thought your relationship was strong. It survived her time at the Pentagon and when Doyle came hunting you, it still survived. Hell, you faked your own death. Yeah, it's been tough after that, but you managed it. You managed it all.
Because you two were a team. And that is over now. And there are only three thing that remind you that it was real. The empty spaces where her things has been since she moved in. Her pillow, that still smells like her. And that note. That you can't understand. But now you know that you weren't dreaming the last years with her. And you don't know if that's a good thing. Because she is gone. And you are left with your memories.
Thanks for reading. You can leave a review if you want.
