She would sit in the garden and read. Her hair was as dark as the center of an eye, black as the void that laid beyond the Yggdrasil. Her skin was the colour of cream, dotted as if someone had poked her face with a needle, puncturing the skin enough just to draw the smallest drop of blood before doing it again, leaving a spray of dots across her pale skin.

They called her Finna meaning wanderer. Finna was the daughter of one of the men who sat on Odin's council, she would sit in the garden and read any chance she got.

It was love, Loki was sure.

She was sweet to him with shy smiles and stories from her books. They could talk from the moment to sun would rise to the moment it would disappear, only leaving an orange glow in the sky.

It had been a kiss, and only a kiss.

She had smelled of lavender and tasted of salt, her hair had tickled his cheeks and her fingers curled around his, while his other hand rested on her arm. When they parted her lips were black, and her skin as white as it was cold.

Loki screamed, and she fell off the bench, and to the ground with a thump, Loki still frozen in place.

Thor had come first with his friends in tow, his voice loud before he even rounded the corner. "We must save the fair maiden!"

When Thor had rounded the corner he had stopped in place, taking in the lifeless form of Finna on the ground and the horrified Loki on the bench, the tips of his fingers resting on his lips, as he stared and Finna's unseeing eyes.

"Loki," Thor had said, moving towards his brother.

"I didn't-" Loki started when the other boys rounded the corner, freezing like Thor had.

"We have to get help," one of the boys said before disappearing back around the corner.

It seemed like seconds latter the sound of feet on stone, cloth rippling in the wind, the chink of armour and the whispers from mouths, that the corner was rounded. Odin with Frigga on his right, leading the small party of men from the council and two guards in gold armour. Odin cased his gaze from Thor to Loki, and then finally Finna sprawled out on the ground.

"Finna!" One of the men said, pushing his way past the guards and ran strait passed Odin to his daughter.

"Step back." Odin commanded as he knelt beside Finna, inspecting her black lips. "Poison kiss," Odin called it, looking to his wife and back down at the girl.

Frigga looked at Loki before the other men did, her face held nothing.

Loki could feel his heart climb into his throat, he had killed, his lips had still been on hers when she died.

A/N: Expiry can mean death, Yggdrasil is the world tree, and Finna is the female variant of the name Finnr, which means wanderer.
