Authors Note: This story is dealing with the aftermath of Kate's death and its impact on the team. The song I chose for this chapter is "Heaven Was Needing A Hero" performed by Jo Dee Messina.

IF YOU KNEW TODAY WAS YOUR LAST DAY ON EARTH, HOW WOULD YOU WANT TO SPEND IT?
Kate didn't know that it was her last day on earth and the team wished they would have known because now she's gone. She died a hero. But if death is the price of being a hero did she really want to be a hero? Tony didn't think so and neither did Abby. They were hit the hardest by her sudden death.
I came by today to see you…

The night before the funeral Tony tried to sleep but he couldn't. Every time he closed his eyes he saw her face. It was tearing him up inside. He knew Kate better than anyone on the team and he knew that if she knew that it was her last day on earth she would not have changed a thing about that day, but if he had known it was he would have changed it for her.
I guess Heaven was needing a hero…
Somebody just like you…
Brave enough to stand up for what you believe…
And follow it through…
When I try to make it make sense in my mind…
The only conclusion I come to…

At the funeral each member of the team had a chance to say how much Kate meant to them and how she changed their lives and the lives of many others. All the while Kate was watching from the other side. She knew that had she known that that fateful day would be her last she wouldn't have changed it because she was with the people she cared about the most doing a job that she loved. She came to the conclusion that she wouldn't change a thing and with that she whispered "Good-bye" and went home. The team felt as if she was still with them and always would. After the funeral the team talked about the good times and their favorite memories that had to do with Kate. Still they couldn't believe she was gone.

Heaven has their hero and the team still feels Kate with them and they will never forget her.
