Chapter 1
"I'm not convinced." Cal said shaking his head.
"I think this is our only option Cal. What other way do you have to get some information without being killed?" Gillian asked. "Bring her here and we'll try to figure this out." She said to their client.
Lauren Silva was the kind of girl who could be anyone, a true grifter. She learnt to read people over the time and she blended in like no one. Without changing her appearance much, her posture and attitude made everything. Short brown hair, confident look, certain when she walked, Lauren could make an entire room to notice her, on the other way, she could walk in without anyone even noticing her.
"I need you Lauren. I have to know where Tom is and you know that The Readers must know something!"
"Look Megan, I know you since… forever and I know that Tom is your brother but I can't bring back the Professor. I'm out." Lauren replied.
"Lauren, please." Megan begged.
She could hear her cry on the other side of the phone and that beak her heart.
"I can't believe I'm doing this," she finally said, "But I'm warning you now that this is not going to be easy and I need time to prepare." Megan sighed in relief, after all this was the only option available.
She walked in the lobby of The Lightman Group looking for Megan. Black suit pants and a bordeaux blouse, high heels and a coat on her arm.
"Lauren!" She heard Megan's voice from the conference room.
"Hey." She answered while entering the room. "You must be Dr. Lightman." Her hand reached to meet his.
"So you're the famous Professor…" he said shaking her hand.
"I'm a lot of people Dr. Lightman."
The meeting begun quickly everyone was trying to figure out exactly what they wanted with this encounter with The Readers.
"Torres, you're going with Lauren here." He pointed to her.
"Ahmm… I don't think so." Lauren said rapidly. "You don't this character, what she looks like, the way she talks, what she wants… You don't know her so I make the calls here. This is my condition. You want me in, this is it!"
"You're not going alone." Cal said looking at Lauren.
"I don't intend to," she replied traveling her eyes to the woman that passed on the corridor, "I want her." She said pointing to the strange woman.
Cal looked surprise and yelled, "Oi! Gillian!" she stopped and looked at the conference room. "Could you come in here for a second?" he asked.
Gillian entered the room with a smile on her face. "Hi" she said looking quickly to the people in the room, "do you need something?"
"I feel like I should ask you a ton of questions…" Gillian begun saying.
"Go ahead, I can take them." Lauren replied while taking off her blouse feeling Gillian's eyes on her.
"What more do I need to know about this Professor? Do you think they're going to bite it?" She was concerned, anyone could tell but Lauren was certain that Foster was more concerned to know everything about the character The Professor than how to perform her role on her side.
"I think I told you everything you need to know: You're my girl and I was off the grid because I wanted to settle. Tom owned me money and I want it back and that's why we're there. That's it."
"Don't you think you should take Ria? She's… younger than me." Gillian stated looking to Lauren's eyes.
She smiled "Believe me, you're perfect," Licked her lips and gave a step forward to Gillian. "they know that I wouldn't settle with just anyone it had to be someone special. You have what it takes and I believe you can play this perfectly."
Hopefully To Be Continued
