The Shinigami Curse

Prologue: The Curse
The young pregnant elf cried out as she was pushed towards the dark looming demon. "Please spare my child's life, my baby has done nothing. Please this baby is all I have in this world." The mother pleaded as the the red eyes examined her. The mother shuddered as she felt the cold eyes upon her, she felt the darkness in this demon's aura overwhelm her. "Your child will have bright violet eyes and long chestnut strands of hair, it will the very essence of beauty inside and out, kindness, friendship, courage, hope, and innocence. But your child will be giver of death, your child will be the Shinigami. Your child will live, only to give death." The demon chanted as a dark wave of power was absorbed into the trembling mother. The mother cried out as her arms wrapped around her abdomen,as she felt a sudden wave of pure agony.
The demon smirked for it seemed to take pleasure from her pain. "One more thing witch, as soon as you child is born, it will be stripped from you. And you'll die giving Shinigami birth. Your child will fall into the world of mortals, doomed to suffer and bring death to those close to him. When the child has lost all hope. I will bring the child to hell with me and let it take it's rightful place as the ruler of darkness. "The demon explained to the trembling mother. The demon laughed darkly and cruelly. "Shinigami will be mine." The demon announced as he vanished in thin air.
The mother was left on the ground, shaking with fever. Her indigo eyes were now filled with fear and determination. "I won't let that demon have you, no matter what the cost, I will save you from this curse. I'll protect you. "The mother promised as she felt the baby kick in reply. The mother's eyes filled with tears as she looked around at the blank stares of the soulless minions of the demon, she felt pity for them and anger for bringing her to the demon, for the curse put upon her only child. The mother used the last of her energy to transport herself to the safety of her cottage in the woods.
Soon the mother found herself in her bed, too tired to do anything. Her eyes closed for well-needed rest. The last sound the poor exhaust mother heard was a shocked gasp and a concerned voice murmuring "What happened to you? Who did this to you?"
