Bella's New Gum Addiction

Edward's point of view

With the wedding approaching like a bullet Bella had found a new addiction that was not me. When Alice wouldn't listen to her she popped one in her mouth. When Charlie started to go off on her about the wedding being a mistake, backed up by Renée, she popped another one in her mouth. When I left for hunting, I heard a crinkled paper noise as I drove away. I don't think she noticed. Normally, I would let Bella go on with her little phase but it affected me too. Sometimes when I hadn't heard the smacking of gum coming from her mouth in awhile, and I kissed her, something solid and squishy would come into my mouth. I'd abruptly jerk away and spit it out with distaste. Bella looked at me apologetically and I stared at the object hoping it would go up in flames. That scenario has happened more than once. I haven't kissed my Bella in a while. It was driving me madder than the first time I had ever smelt her blood. It was a simple math problem. Only two things were needed. The things are Bella, me, and the gum. Since Bella and I can't live without each other it's pretty clear what must go. THE GUM!

I had it all planned out. Bella had pretty much used up the rest of the gum in her house and will need some more. It happened just like I thought it would. She asked me to pick up some gum for her. I agreed to go get the gum, but I never said it would necessarily make it back to my beautiful, wonderful, can't tell a lie to save her life, and unsuspecting Bella. I hid any part of my flesh visible. For this plan to work, I would need to be disguised. I pranced into all the stores of Forks and bought every last thing of gum. I gave them to homeless people, kids in orphanages, and people just walking on the streets. When I was I done I smiled. No more GUM!

When I returned to Bella's, I watched her peacefully, and I enjoyed the thought of having a gum free day with Bella. The next day I told her that all the gum had been bought up. She didn't believe it. She called Alice and asked how long we had till we had to meet her. She said one hour. Bella smiled at me and declared we get to Port Angeles as fast as I could drive. My eyebrows rose at the idea. Why? I soon found out to buy more gum. Darn gum.

I'd have to ask Alice the chances of shutting down all gum factories…….
