AN: A very short fic that I wrote upon rewatching Journey's End - so spoilers for that if you haven't seen it!
Disclaimer: Doctor Who is property of BBC America and I made no money upon the writing of this fanfic.
"...One! The TARDIS has been destroyed!"
He swallowed, holding Rose's hand so tightly that the blood was likely cut off, which made him loosen his grip once he realized it. He was no longer shaking with rage. He was shaking from all the other emotions going through his head, his head that now realized it.
"Now tell me, Doctor... what do you feel?"
What did he feel? He felt it, for the first time since learning about the Master. The mind of another. Another, who was a Time Lord and yet was not, in the TARDIS, with Donna. It should be him with Donna. Not him.
"Anger? Sorrow? Despair?"
For the moment, Jack's presence, the presence of the one that felt so wrong, suddenly felt right and perfect. The existence of one that was impossible - a Time Lord, and yet a human at the same time - felt completely wrong. It could only mean one thing. There was another out there now, created from him and her.
"Yeah. Yeah I do."
Anger, that there was a Time Lord out there, that understood everything about him, how he worked, how he felt, and everything else, but was not him. Sorrow, that someone else had to be burdened with everything that he had. Despair, because there was a storm coming, a storm that would destroy everything. A storm in the form of his very own right hand man.
"Then if emotions are so important, surely we have enhanced you?"
Enhanced? In a way, he was enhanced. A Time Lord/human hybrid now existed, born from him and her, and had the best of both worlds. He could do things that he, the Doctor, never could, while still knowing everything. There weren't many of those around.
It made him jealous. But there was one thing that he couldn't help but thing amidst everything: this right hand of his wouldn't be winning any swordfights anytime soon.
Of course, he then had to hand it to Jack - the man knew how to cause a distraction.
