One day in LiveJournal, Mumstheword requested some nice clean limericks with a Lord of the Rings theme. So here are my efforts to please:

CRICKHOLLOW

There is a small house called Crickhollow
Frodo bought with a tale none could swallow.
He said he was broke,
But they thought it a joke!
No wonder his cousins did follow!

TOM BOMBADIL

There is an old fellow named Tom-
Nobody knows where he's from.
His attitude's mellow,
His songs he does bellow,
With many a hey-derry-dom!

STRIDER

There was a mysterious stranger
Who spent all his time as a ranger.
They called him Strider;
He feared no Black Rider,
And laughed in the face of all danger.

GANDALF AT THE BRIDGE

There once was a wizard named Gandalf.
With a Balrog he managed a stand-off:
Into the abyss
They fell with a hiss,
And he gave to the beast quite a send-off!

MERRY AND PIPPIN

There were two hobbits called Merry and Pip
Who from Ent-draught did manage to sip.
They grew overnight,
Their pants were too tight,
And no needles to sew up the rip!

THE CHIEF

There was a hobbit named Lotho Pimple
Whose ambitions were fairly simple:
He just did aspire
To run all the Shire,
And have lasses to admire his dimple.

LOBELIA'S STAND

There once was an old hobbit dame-
Lobelia S.-B. by name.
She took her umbrella
To a rather large fella,
And thus won a good deal of fame!
