Jaken stood patiently watching his lord and master sleep. After that fierce battle with Inuyasha, the half breed, his lord was tired. Jaken had gotten over the sock of Lord Sesshomaru's arm being taken off so easily and was now content that his lord was safe.
'Once my lord is better, he'll get even with that mutt by taking his life, possibly keeping his head as a trophy,' Jaken thought.
He glanced his master again. He was leaning back on a large tree with his eyes peacefully closed. Jaken then looked at the dried blood on the shoulder of where his arm used to be. He frowned, 'The tessaiga should be my lords and not wasted upon Inuyasha.'
Sesshomaru stirred a little but kept his eyes closed. After a moment of silence Jaken turned the staff of Two Heads carefully between his hands.
'Twas me lord that gave this to me,' he recalled happily, 'he entrusted me with this weapon on my first few days as his follower.'
Jaken silently recalled the day so many decades ago when he was just about to be eaten alive by a monster when Sesshomaru happened along the path.
"Get out of my way," he ordered in his tranquil voice.
And when the monster did not comply, the poor fool was slaughtered by Sesshomaru's poisonous claws, thus saving Jaken's life. Jaken being eternally grateful set his own followers free and rushed after the mysterious man that saved him, "Stranger wait! You may not have realized but you saved me. I am forever in your debt."
Jaken wiped away a tear as his flashback ended, 'I'd follow you anywhere Lord Sesshomaru,' he declared proudly.
"Jaken," a familiar voice said.
Jaken looked up from his daydreaming to see his master standing in front of him. Tall, handsome, and regal.
"Yes, me lord?"
"Let's go," he replied stepping on top of Jaken and walking forward.
Jaken struggled to get up for a few moments and ran after Sesshomaru who already had a good lead, "Wait for me, me lord!"
